32 weeks and baby's settled into pelvis

So I'm having really bad pain in my lower back that's wrapping all around to my pelvis.  It started yesterday so I called my OB today.  He got mad at me for not going to L&D last night.  He had me come in and he checked my cervix and said it's closed but the baby's head has settled into my pelvis.  I'm in a lot of pain and I'm still working full time.  I can't take mat leave until I have the baby so this is getting hard for me.  I'm just worried that our little man is going to make his entrance too early and have to be in the NICU instead of going home with us.  I get 8 weeks of mat leave and if he's born early and has to stay in the hospital that won't leave us much time at home with him before I have to go back to work.  Has anyone else had their baby's settle into their pelvis this early?

My son was settled into my pelvis at 5 1/2 months, and I mean I was fully dialated and fully effaced and went to 35 weeks with him, this one she was in my pelvis for 2 months I think, and I already had her.

As long as your not dialated your good.  But if you are feeling the pain, then go in so they can monitor you to see if your having labor contractions or not, and they can always give you meds to comepletely stop the contractions.

Just try to keep your feet elevated and not be up and about so much, and you can prevent yourself from going into labor!  Hang in there!!

I can't work from home and I'm like you, no paid leave except the vacation or sick time I have accrued.  Which is ZERO because I've got two other kids so if someone's sick I've gotta take off to take them to the doctor.

Do you work a job that you could work from home if you had to?  My doctor threw me for a curve by putting me on bed rest.  I told him I had to work and he said, "You have two options, you can do bed rest at home or you can do bed rest in the hospital."  I picked home.  My work was actually very understanding (I only get six weeks of maternity leave and only get paid for what every I have in vacation time).  They are letting me work from home.  It's harder because I have to produce more but I'm still able to bring in that desperately needed paycheck.  Good luck!

He wasn't too reassuring yesterday.  His response was "I don't think your in pre-term labor because you've never gone pre-term before, but if it gets worse go to L&D".  I'm 32w1d and this is my 3rd baby.  Both of mine settled not even a week before I delivered, I guess that's why I'm worried.

Hey there... I am 35 weeks and she is settled in my pelvis.  She "dropped" about 2 weeks ago.  It is completely normal though.  So, don't freak out :)

If this is your first baby, the baby can "get into position" weeks before delivery.  Your body has never done this before, so it begins preparing waaay before your actual delivery.  I am surprised they didn't ease your concerns at the hospital.

I am seeing my OB every week now... I am not too sure how far along you, but you atleast should be seeing your OB every 2 weeks.  At your next appt. voice your concerns... I am sure that your OB will ease your worries :)  I know the feeling you had..., and it is scary.  But, don't worry... just because your baby has "dropped" doesn't mean labor is coming soon :)

my guy was there at 26 weeks. they couldn't measure his head at the last 2 u/s. that was how they found my cervix was short, did a transvaginal to try to measure his head. He has moved up a bit, not getting pressure as much or stabbing in my cervix as he head butts me

I just had the class this weekend at the hospital and they talked about this - that baby can "drop" and stay there for weeks. And they also said something low back pain when baby is facing a certain way. If you are not dilated - that is a good sign - but you may be uncomfy for a little while.

If it is really bad maybe you can look into short term disability or something?
