Monday updates

We're getting ready for our cardio class  in a few and I am back to taking Hot Yoga  - as of last week I took 4 hot yoga classes and I am really hoping this helps me get back into shape. My hips still seem so W I D E - any one else?

I stopped breast feeding and feel great about it. Glad i did 3 months, wish I could have done more but the guilt is gone.

Hayden started rolling back to belly this weekend - she now does it every time she is on her mat. I bought a video monitor to "spy" on her now in her crib - so I know if she is just fussing or stuck. She is not rolling belly to back as much .

She squawks all day! Took her "swimming" this weekend and posted a pic of the bathing beauty on my profile.

4 month appt next week!

Brock is doing well.  He still has his fussy moments, but we get through them.  We had his 4 month check up today, and he did great with the shots!  What a trooper!  The ped. is not at all concerned about his flat head.  He is my big man!  He is in the 80s for percentiles in weight, height, and head circumference!  Ready for the football field!  I was also worried about this popping in his hips when we hold him.  Don't know if anyone else had experienced that.  She said it's normal because their joints are so tight and we'll hear lots of cracking!  Other than that, he's all good!  We're still trying to figure out naps...he slept for 2 two hour naps yesterday which was awesome!  Today, 3 45 minute naps!  I can't believe the difference in a day!!

Jules...

I haven't been doing anything special to teach Leighton to roll over.  Granted, she only goes tummy to back... not vice versa yet.  My mom is the one who dangles toys and dances and the whole deal to try to get her to roll over.  Pretty amusing.

As for that lady... did you have some choice words for her?!  Give me a break... its your child and it sounds like she was MEGA protected!!!  I live in sunny AZ and Leighton is outside in the pool everyday with me.  I bought her this floaty thing with a canopy on top.  Its great :)  Some lady was rude to me the other night at dinner....

I was making a bottle for Leighton at the table and this little boy at the table next to us says "Mommy look!  She's going to feed the baby."  (Cute, right?)  Well, the mom chimes in reallllly loudly "Oh you were breast fed.  You didn't get any of that "stuff"."  Of course this 8-10 year old boy now thinks that I am poisoning her from the look on his face!  I felt like decking the woman.  Everyone has an opinion about how you do this or that with your child.  Don't let it ruin your parade :)

Mark will be 4 months on Thursday! I can't believe he is growing so quickly, and the only consolation I take is that I am going to have more babies so I will get to experience everything again. He is just wonderful and I enjoy every minute with him. Micah, our 4 year old, loves to play with him as well, and is really good at making him laugh. Mark loves his jumaparoo and would stay in there almost all day if I would let him.

Mark has been rolling over from stomach to back for quite some time now, but because he really enjoys being on his stomach he hardly ever rolls over. However, he can lift himself up to where his hips are only touching the ground when on his tummy- so that is a plus.

I am 10 lbs away from my pre pregnancy weight, and have decided that I am going to take my time getting there. My workouts have really messed with my breast milk supply so I have to just take it easy while he is still nursing, which will probably be another year. I have to keep reminding myself that it took 8 months to lose everything when I had my first so I have to give myself time with the second.

Irish- I am so so so sorry to hear about your situation. That sounds awful! I just want you to know that my thoughts are with you and I will be sending you lots of positive energy. :) Hang in there...

Well we are enjoying our vaca in Fort Meyers FL right now.  Mady is doing awesome.  The plane rider here was great, she was an angel, didnt cry once.  Lets hope the way home is the same.  She loves the water we have been to the beach 2 already and she has had a great time!  Otherwise things are good, she rolled form tummy to back in her sleep 2 times but we haven't seen it.  Did you guys do something special to practice rolling or just let it happen?

I have to say why do weird people find it there place to solicite information or feel they know better than you?   We were at the beach and MAdy was in the water out of her sundome for about maybe 5 minutes, and some dumb lady told me how bad it was and that she can go blind.  Now she had on UV clothes, hat and sunglasses and had on a 50 sunblck and my ped said she'd be ok here and there for a bit.  Thanks for your advice lady but I have an idea of what I am doing.  UGH

I don't really have anything new to report...except today Blake was playing on her playmat and she caught her reflection. Her play mat has a mirror in the corner...and she was flirting with herself! haha It was pretty hysterical. :) Also today was a very good day for Yo Gabba Gabba. She was watching it this morning and she was probably the happiest I have ever heard her.  She was yelling (happily) and giggling and kicking her legs like crazy while it was on. It is a weird phenomenon...:)

Irish-

I am so sorry!! Ugh I can't imagine how much that wears on you. I know when Blake doesn't feel well and she is especially fussy it really drives me nuts...I can't imagine that all the time!! Hopefully things ease up for you soon.

Hi ladies, Well I think this is my first Monday Update in a while. Jack gives me very little downtime. I also do not have anything really fun to report. My experieince has been sadly depressing thus far. Jack continues to scream every time I put him down so my days are filled with feeding, crying, screaming till his face is red and his entire body is sweating, then he is so tired he finally falls asleep. By that point I am so wiped out I barely have enough energy to read my emails and check a few sites. I feels like years since he was born. This is definitely not what I pictured motherhood being like. I have even decided to quit working till January just to be at home with him longer since I don't feel like we have really bonded. Kind of hard to do that inbetween all the screaming. I am not even sure a daycare would take him with all of this screaming. I am just waiting patiently for that magical day where I can set him down and go to the bathroom or eat lunch without my ears ringing from the constant screaming. I have tried almost everything available to keep him calm during the day but nothing works for more than 5-10 minutes. Our only fail-safe is the car. However, driving him around all day is not reasonable. I do though try to get out and run errands at least once a day (though he is really good about falling asleep the entire time I am out and conveniently waking up and crying when I return home..augh!). I have seen the doctor and so far nothing seems to be wrong with him. Since I stopped breastfeeding a while back my hormones have leveled off and I have not cried in a week or so. I guess all of Jack's screaming just got to me and I could barely keep it together. I also talked to a PPD counselor and she gave me some helpful hints on keeping my sanity throughout the day.

So I guess until Jacks screaming stops (hopefully in a month or so) I probably won't do any more updates because there aren't too many proud bragging moments at this point. I will keep reading and chiming in when I can. I really love this little community we have here. It is definitely really cool to have gone thru our entire pregnancy and now talking about our childern together. :)

On a peronsal side-note I am back to my pre-baby weight. I still have saggy stomach skin and some stretchmarks but I am sure they will all lessen in time. Probably just in time to get pregnant again...that is if Jack will stop screaming long enough for us to forget how hard these past few months have been...hahahaha.

Nothing too crazy to report on.  Leighton loves, and I mean LOVES to scream at the top of her lungs.  She had an "episode" at Sprouts while I was grocery shopping.  It happened to be "double ad day" so just about every older person was there that day.  Let's just say they are not as tolerant?  She thought she was being hilarious... they did not.  I have to say, I too thought it was pretty funny!!!

We are also doing what Kele did with finding a photographer who is breaking into professional photography.  We live in a college town so it was pretty easy to find a U of A photo student willing to upgrade their portfolio.  Haven't set a date yet (probably won't be until fall seeing as it is 100 degrees+ everyday in Southern AZ and we want outdoor photos).

We went up to the mountains yesterday (a GORGEOUS hour and half drive from our house) and Leighton had a blast.  There was a music festival going on.  John and Leighton "danced" and she smiled or laughed whenever she heard the banjo.  I don't know what it was about the banjo, but she thought it was funny.  Can you tell she has a great sense of humor?  :P  We also hiked (with the front carrier).  Leighton loves to stare at the trees blowing in the wind.  It can honestly keep her occupied for hours.

Kele... you are so funny with the stroller thing!  We love having a stroller because we both run and enjoy taking her with us.  So, for us it is great :)  But, I have to admit... it is nice and convenient plopping her into the front carrier.  Plus, it makes her pass out!  An added bonus, I guess :)

Well... I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend :)

Phin went on his first hike last Friday and he loved it. I will admit to thoroughly enjoying nursing him next to a waterfall and seeing the look of awe on his face. He loved touching the bark on the trees and dipping his toes into a cold mountain stream.

He has been so close to rolling from front to back and Saturday he did it..twice...both times when I was not in the room. So Daddy got to witness a "first" which was awesome for him, but I am still a bit envious that I didn't see it. He is being a twerp though and refusung to do it again...*grumble*

Sunday we went down to the waterfront and met with a guy who is breaking into prefessional photography and we spent about 2 hours taking pictures of Phin and us. I can't wait to see the pics! The guy did them for free as he is building up his portfolio, so yay for us 300+ pics for free.

We chose to not use or own a stroller and have been quite happy wearing him wherever we go. It is easy and simple...our neighbor decided that we needed a stroller so she went ahead and gave us one so we felt obligated to use it. What a fiasco that was. We are so used to just strapping him on, grabbing a couple diapers and going. We like the ability to just walk where we want..well curbs were messing us up, rocky terrain, narrow aisles in stores, Phin crying because he wasn't able to see the way he is used to...ugh. I don't know how you all deal with strollers but we were so happy that we brought a carrier with us just in case, so Phin got strapped back on and we were all happy.

Next week is Phin's second round of shots...
