Hey Amy...
Thanks for the suggestion. My husband said the same thing too. Ugh... annoying.
Ovaz,
That sounds like a sticky situation. I would think the easiest thing would be to call them and say you have to switch because you are using a different insurance provider and then just continue to use your insurance with another doctor. I doubt they will ever really know. They can check those databases but they are never up to date. Plus I seriously doubt anyone would go to the trouble to check it.
Good luck! I drive 30 miles round trip to see our pediatrician because I love her and she is on our insurance.
Okay... so I will stop giving them to her. Thanks everyone... I appreciate the insight.
Irish... It is really annoying! Our pediatrician happens to be one of our clients and therefore it sort of puts a twist in why it is hard for us to switch. I mean, he will wonder why and he is a fairly large client of ours, so as bad as it sounds... I don't want to loose his business! AHHH... I will get this figured out ;)
And yes... can't wait to get her on whole milk to nix the mixing as well!
Oh and sorry you have such a "non specific" doctor. Makes it hard on us first timers.
Same here. When I was only breastfeeding my doc told me to give Jack those Vitadrops, but once we went to formula only he said they were not needed. he didn't give me any more specifics than that so I think we will revisit the vitamin issue at his 1 year appointment....I am looking forward to switching to whole milk...no more mixing. :)
Yeah I have heard the same thing as Whitney...not to give them to them until they are off the formula. The formula provides 100% of what they need. I have only heard of breastfed babies getting additional vitamins if the mother is deficient. I would think too much of even a good thing can be harmful..
I haven't given them to Mark as my pediatrician said that breast milk or formula provide complete nutrition until baby reaches age 1. I know the drops you are talking about because I gave them to Micah when he was a toddler. I don't know about giving them to an infant, however, because it is hard on the liver when a person gets too many vitamins (this is what my doc said). Anyway, I am not for sure though.
