I figured I'd start a new thread and not clog up the updates one. ^_^
So when I make smoothies I start with about a cup or so of whole milk yogurt (Stonyfield Organic Cream Top is SO good), I add veggies, fruit, some whole milk to thin it out and then blend away until smooth. I have a stick blender and I just blend it right in the quart size yogurt container and store in the fridge. For veggies I use frozen squash, peas, carrots, spinach, baked sweet potato. For fruit I have a frozen mix from Costco that has peaches, strawberry, honeydew melon and pineapple. It is a huge bag for about $6.
Here are some of the blends I have done:
Carrot/Peach
1 cup yogurt
7-8 baby size carrots
5-6 slices of frozen peaches
1-2 frozen strawberries
1/2-3/4 cup whole milk
Tropical Potato
1 cup yogurt
7-8 chunks of pineapple
1 sm sweet potato baked, peeled and cooled
1-2 frozen strawberries
1/2-3/4 cup whole milk
dash of fresh ground nutmeg
Fresh garden smoothie
1 cup yogurt
1-2 handfuls of frozen sweet peas
5-6 honeydew melon balls
1 tbs of fresh mint leaves
1/2-3/4 cup whole milk
I am trying to find a good blend with spinach but so far spinach works best pureed up and used as the liquid to make wheat pancakes, he yums them right up.
Hope you post some other recipes and let me know if your little ones like mine. _^
