Weight Gain

So at my last doctor appointment, my doctor said I need to watch my weight and manage what I eat. Before I got pregnant, I was severely underweight. I haven't changed any of my eating habits, I don't pig out or "eat for two" and I'm constantly exercising, yet I do keep gaining weight. I'm 24 weeks and gained 22 pounds. Is anyone else having this problem? You can't tell I've gained weight, i don't know where it's all going.

Ok so some doctors are concentrated on weight than others. My ob comments on mine. Yet my family doc who knows me is not concerned.
Sometimes no matter what you do you will gain. Studies are showing that its your genetics the determine what you gain. Do not stress about it. I eat less than i did prepregnancy and have gain 30 by week 25. My family usually has gained 50 by this point.

It ***** but as long as baby ok all that matters:)

I had gained 18lb by week 22, and I was already overweight. My doc never mentioned anything. I even asked if I had gained too much, and she said no, it was normal. I've lost 3 lb since from being sick so total now is 15 at 25 weeks. If I were you I wouldn't worry about weight gain especially if you were underweight before. I know tons of women who have gained around 50 lb with a pregnancy. They had healthy kids and most got back to nearly pre pregnancy weight within a couple years. If you are eating healthy and balanced foods and doing 30 min exercise you'll be fine.

I weighed 140 when I found out I was pregnant and at my last appointment (which was at 22 weeks) I was 150 and I'm 25 weeks along now. So I'm guessing I've gained about 12lbs. I don't think I've gained much from my last appointment but I'll find out in a couple weeks! Lol I'm trying to be good!

I'm in my 24th week and have gained 17lbs. My doctor said it's perfectly fine, but it really bothers me, so I've started to walk for an hour each day on top of eating healthy.

I think weight gain is harshly judged if you're not very tall.  Everything I've read says to stay in the normal BMI range throughout your pregnancy so if you're creeping into overweight or obese range your doc is looking at that.  Of course if you're really muscular/a workout queen your BMI may have been high to start and then doc might take that into consideration.  If they keep hounding you about it ask to speak with a dietitian to get the facts straight.  Maybe you think you eat healthy but your definition of healthy is different from a dietitian's. A friend of mine met with dietitian after GD diagnosis and was shocked at their different definitions of a balanced diet.

I'm 23 weeks on Tuesday and I've gained 13 pounds. I also have PCOS and I was underweight when I've got pregnant.  My dr says I have to keep a healthy diet even if my weight is fine.

Im 26 weeks and have gained about 19 poundd. My doctor is happy with my weight gain and not concerned at all. Reading some of these post i wonder why your doctors are concerned with the same amount i have gained?

With my PCOS I am having a terrible time not gaining like crazy.  At 24 weeks I've already gained 18 lbs... Doc isn't happy about it,  but I am just doing my best at my diet and not getting too upset about it.  As long as you aren't gaining executive (like 3-5 lbs per week) I don't think it's that bad.  If you are gaining that quickly you might need to have your doc look into it

I had to walk about 5 miles a day just to keep my gain to 20. With my first I gained more than 50 pounds. Try not to worry too much. Good luck ladies.
