37 week update

Well i went in for my 37 week appt today...We had another U/S done today b/c Kyra was measuring big at 30 weeks and as of today she weighs 7lbs 6oz, so not too big but not a scrawny little girl to say the least.  I am now 90% effaced and 4 cm dialted...My blood pressure was a little high and it has been for a couple weeks, but it isn't high enough for them to be concerned at this point.  My Dr. was stuck in surgery so  had to see the midwife in the office and i am just feeling kind of uneasy about everything now.  I found out that my Strep test came back positive so when i go to the hospital to deliver they have to be sure to get enough antibiotics into baby's system so the bacteria doesn't cause any problems.  She told me that they do 1 bag every 4 hours and they want to get 2 bags into baby before delivery.  So i need to be there 8 hours before delivering, but i am just concerned that if i keep dialating before i actually go into labor that i am going to deliver too quickly to accomplish this.  I don't know if i am just panicking over nothing, but the only other woman i know that has tested positive delivered too quickly and her baby didn't get enough of the antibiotics and ended up in the hospital for weeks with Menningitis...Sorry so long just feeling slightly overwhelmed today!!

I'm sorry to hear about this!  you really need someone to talk to, so as kiki said, get in touch with your doc and explain your fears to him.  You are really dilated, so this baby will be hear soon!!  Good luck!!

I would call and talk to the Dr. Anxiety is not good, I'm suprised with all of the issues you have been having they havn't induced yet, Call and express your concearns to your Dr. not the nurses. I know nurses are trained to give you the "standard" answer. I'm a nurse, trust me I would put a request in to talk to the Dr. Good Luck, I hope Kyra is here soon!

I know if i were a 5-6 cm yesterday they were going to induce, but i wasn't quite far enough dialted.  So i guess if for some reason i don't go into labor this week we will probably opt for an induction next week.  I am feeling a little better today, but i think i am going to call and try to talk to one of the nurses a little more about the whole situation.  I guess for now i just sit back and see what happens!

its understandable to feel overwhelmed. Make sure you express this fear with your doctor. It might be possible for them to induce you (I have no idea if they would but you could always ask and see it that were an option your doctor would consider. by 37 weeks youre full term and if she is 30 weeks in size I dont think that it would be unhealthy to do so. that would be my only advice, good luck!
