Gestational Diabetes

Anyone with gestational diabetes? What is your diet? Did you have to cut out all carbs?

I just started monitoring my blood sugar. You can still eat carbs, just space them out throughout the day.
For example for breakfast I have two pieces of peanut butter toast and drink water and that keeps mine under control.
A snack between meals would be like an apple (which is a carb) and a beef stick.
Basically the first week you pretty much test out foods that don't spike your blood sugar. I test an hour after each meal and in the morning before breakfast.

Yeah that's what I do but every morning around PT time I'm always above my goal and I don't eat or drink anything after my last test it's very frustrating for me cause they told me I might have diabetes after hunter is born because it's in my genes

I have also been told that my daughter may be bigger, also try exercising, I walk 30 minutes either around my complex or 40 minutes on the treadmill, it'll help you break down your sugars better.

I also have GD, I haven't removed all carbs, just switched to 100% whole wheat and I watch my portion size. I eat 3 meals and 3 snacks and test my sugar 2 hours after meals, it becomes second nature. I also set my eating schedule on my phone so the alarm helps me to stay on track. The goal for me is to not over indulge, I eat to eat, not to get full every time.

I got diagnosed a few weeks ago and have had to monitor my carb intake. They actually wanted me to allot a certain amount of my meals toward carbs(dairy, fruit, and grains)/protein/fats. I spoke with a nutritionist and diabetes educator who helped me find a meal plan that works best for my schedule, but I make sure to eat every 2-3 hours and test my blood sugar 2hours after each meal. I am at the end of week two with my new routine and it is becoming easier. I also have not been able to stablize my sugars with just diet so I had to begin medication. There are a few oral meds that help before you have to resort to insulin injections.
