Baby Names-Why doesn't he want to name it that?

So I know it's super early to think about names, but I am, because this is our first baby and well, I'm excited!  So anyway, my boyfriend is so against naming our baby (if it is a boy) after him.  I really, really love his name and told my bf that instead of calling them both Brad, we could call the baby JR (pronounced: Jay-Are, not Junior)  And for a girl I thought we could name her after my middle name and I'd want her to take my mother's middle name as hers.  He was against that too.

What the heck??  All the other names I've thought of that I like, we have friends by those names and no offense to them, but I don't like them enough to name my baby after them...so just curious if anyone else is having this dilemma and/or if anyone else has picked out a baby name?

Picking out names is the fun part!!!!!  We are having twins and I'm having a hard time thinking on names that go together!!

For girls I like
RyLeigh Jean (DHis Ryan and my middle name is Leigh)
KayLeigh Ryan

For boys I like- Boy names are so much harder! My DH is very picky about what he will name his son. He won't do Ryan at all. I love the name but he wont do it!

If it's a girl I would like Olivia June (middle name after my grandmother) and if it's a boy we are thinking of Logan Duval (a family middle name in my husbands family).  I also like Conner for a boy though so we will see.

My DH and I did pick out some names with our first baby... unfortunately I had a missed miscarriage at 10.5 weeks.  With my second miscarriage, we never got around to the name discussion either.  I figure this time, we'll get back to it in the 2nd trimester.

When we did look, we just opened up some name websites and went through our reasons for not liking a name.  We each had a few hard and fast 'rules' about what we didn't like and then we had a few 'likes'.

I found that I was more 'association' oriented than he was- ie, if I had an acquaintance that I couldn't stand with that name, I would never name my child that way.  He is way more inclined to follow his 'rules' which seem kind of silly to me.

I'd say that you should just give it some time, and know that there's plenty of time for you to find the right one you both can agree with!
