Small for Gestational Age

Hi, I'm 8 weeks, 1 day pregnant and very sure of that since I went through fertility treatment and IUI to conceive. So basically, there's no room for a miscalculation of my LMP or conception.  I had a sono at 6 weeks 5 days and it showed no heart beat with a size corresponding to 6 weeks 1 day.  I went back for another sono at 7 weeks 5 days and there was a heart beat but only 104 bpm and the size corresponded to 6 weeks 5 days.  I should also mention that i have a very healthy diet, dont smoke or drink, ive taken my prenatal vitamins and am in very good shape. The doctors that are. treating me are saying very little, I literally was only told let's wait one more week to see what happens.  Not receiving any explanations from my doctors, I went online to research and have read about IUGR and this potentially being a sign of placenta problems or other very troublesome complications...signs of an unhealthy baby.  Should I be worried? What could be happening? Any recommendations ?

Thank you both for taking the time to reply! Unfortunately this one ended in a miscarriage, there was no heartbeat when I went to my next appointment.  Sad but hopefully we can try again :)

Hi milly :) i am 8 weeks 5 days pregnant. I've had 2 ultrasouds already, one at 7 wks 3 days and one at 8 wks 2 days. At my first, they said i was only 5 weeks 4 days gestation. What they go by is conception, not the first day of your last period. They may ask you that question but thats just know what they're supposed to expect seeing. Your uterus doesn't start growing until that fertilized egg is implanted, which could take 10 to 15 days. Therefore its 1 to 2 weeks behind your normal weeks. Does that make sense? I'm not a bit worried about my baby. By the way, my first pregnany ended at 7wks 5 days. But I'm pretty confident about this one :) they haven't detected the heartbeat yet though..... maybe next time ;) good luck and let us know how it goes!

Things can change, doctors are probably not saying much in case they make you worry, and that doesnt help anything :) a slow growth isnt a promising sign but depending on how baby is lying and only measuring about 15mm, there is not much room to get a chance for a good measurement. Next week when you get checked again baby could have grown an extra few mm. Keep doing what you are doing and relax :) let is know how your next appointment goes, good luck :) xo
