Moms that have been induced...

After finally making it through week 40, it looks like I'm going to have to be induced. Unless some crazy miracle happens in the next 24 hours (a girl can hope haha) I never prepared myself for this, you always imagine water breaking and rushing to the hospital right? Well, tomorrow is coming fast and I woke up this morning extremely nervous. Just wondering if any of you would like to share your induction story. Advice, a little of what to expect... Anything really. I know everyone is different but it's nice to hear from people that have been through it rather than reading articles online. Thank you :)

I was induced with both my pregnancies. I had an epidural with my first, fell asleep and woke up pushing.  His head was big so I tore a little, but not enough to need stitches. With my second my water broke but I didn't start contracting.  Was admitted at 9 pm, and had him by 12. Not epidural and and only pushed for a half hour. I'm requesting to be induced thanksgiving weekend this time around, because my husband is in school during the week in the evening, and I don't want him to miss anything important. Also, it makes it to where you older boys won't is school either. So hopefully early morning next Friday I will be in labor. Fingers crossed.

I've been induced twice...going tomorrow for my third induction. Don't let bad experiences scare you from others.
For my first..had to take cervadil to soften my cervix then started pitocin...close to 24 hours later, healthy baby delivered. My second, I went in already contacting and almost 4 cm. Less than 8 hrs later, had a healthy baby minus he dropped really fast and was bruised from hitting my pelvic bone on the way down. As of last week, I'm 2cm and 60% effaced. I'll go in around 2:30am tomorrow...this time a around I want to try a natural delivery. Never even considered with my first two...pain free was great except the epidural didn't completely work with my second...so why pay all the $$$ if I still feel pain? I'm not closing the door on the epidural just trying to avoid it. I would advise that if you go in to be induced, don't get the epidural too soon as it may slow down labor. Also, go in witg the mind set it may not happen quickly. Child birth is hard work and not everyone has a speedy delivery! :-) hope this helps.

Following as well.  12 years ago my water broke easy i was 3 weeks early.  This time around i have gd and will be induced in the 24th at 39 weeks if he doesn't make his entrance soon.  He's only getting bigger.  Ahhhh just the thought.  I've never had to be induced,  nor ever had an epidural not sure but im pretty scared.  And im doing this alone,  well my brave 13yr will be there to hold my hand until they kick him out.

I'm glad someone is responding about being induced. As you are being induced in the morning, I am too and I'm nervous, scared, excited don't really know what to think. I had my first 7 years ago, and I went in with contractions and my water breaking at the hospital. These spasms that I have with this pregnancy; OUCH! I was told Wednesday I'm 2 centimetres dilated and 50 % effaced, and last night list my mucus plug also spotted a little. Not to much on contractions as of now.

I def want an epidural and can't believe how long once induced it takes to push. How was the pain overall???

I was induced on nov 7. My previous two kids were vaginal natural. I was induced at 39 weeks because gd. I was very scared i could not sleep several days before the induction. I had read that induction is more likely to be successfull if you are already dilated but my dr never checked me for dilatation so i did not know what to expect. I have my appointment at 5:30am i arrived to the hospital and they check my cervix thanks God i was 2cm dilated my doctor was happy and said we just jumped a big step and they will started me on pitosin. 15 minutes after that i had two ivi on my hand one to put the medicine and one to take out blood. I was started on pitosin at 6am at 11am i was 4cm the contractions were coming harder and i could not handle the pain so i asked for the epidural. The epidural was not as bad as i thought after that i could relax a little bit my water broke biitself around 1pm and i was 6cm they told me i can not go to the restroom after that. At 6pm i was fully dilated but my baby has not drop yet so they told me to sit to help gravity at 7:30 my baby was still high so my nurse told me we will try to push and see if he goes down. I pushed and she said to stop pushing and that he was going down so she called the doctorbeverybody was in the room by 7:45 they told me to push when my contraction started i make three pushes with that contraction and my baby was born at 7:49 My recomendation is of course to get the epidural that will make everything more easy
