How long was anyone dilated 3cm before they went into labor?

I was only 2cm dilated for hours after I started labour. I was having contractions every 4-5 mins for prob 7hours.

I was 3cm dilated at my 37 week apt. 3 1/2 cm at my 38 week apt and had my baby November 21 at 39 weeks. Doctor was surprised since I'm a ftm

Currently 40 weeks been, 3cm since 36 wk appointment. It doesn't really mean anything. Could be a day, could be a month.
