brown discharge

I am 30w 5d.  I have had a brown discharge throughout the day, and mild cramping.  I may be dehydrated, so I'm downing Smart Water before I yet overly concerned with the cramping (California is friggin hot right now, and I keep having hot flashes, so dehydrated is not out of the question).  The discharge is throwing me off though.  I wonder if it's old blood, the baby has been giving low kicks and wacking on some organs down there, and there was a particularly painful night where he went HAM on me.  I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this, or has heard from a doc?  Mine is impossible to get a hold of, and the on call nurse is an idiot.  Little Ian is still moving around, so I know nothing is wrong with him, just that discharge.

Thanks!  I ended up going to the triage the next day, was having some severe cramps that really scared me.  Turns out he's been bruising my organs and at one point ruptured a blood vessel.....it was just old blood.  Everything turned out great

Is it smelly? The mucus plug is called the bloody show, but I'm not sure when you lose it as I'm a FTM. I know straining for bms can cause your cervix to bleed as this happened to me at 20 weeks. I had one instance of bright red blood and a brown discharge for 3-4 days afterwards. Good luck!
