Mommy, did you swallow the baby?

My 3 and 5 year old are very excited about Baby Elijah coming and they understand that he's in my tummy right now.  My 5 year has asked a few times now, "Who put the baby in your tummy?" and "How did the baby get in your tummy?"

So far, I've been able to avoid directly answering that question.  The first time I said, "God decided I should have another baby!"  He said, "God doesn't put babies in tummies!"

The next time I tried to change the conversation by saying, "Well, the baby starts off soooo very small and he's been growing and growing, and we'll get to see him very soon!"

To which he responded, "So did you swallow him and put him in your tummy when he was really small?"

Any suggestions on how much detail to give this inquisitive child?
Thanks!

at 5, i'd tell the stork story, only instead of a baby in a bassinet, tell him you had to eat a certain "food" lol....

Too cute!!!  3 and 5 year old obviously are too young for the truth so I think you are approaching it in the right way.  I wouldn't stress too much over it.  They wouldn't understand the truth anyway.  I think there are books about mommy having a baby.  You could probably find one at a local book store or either online. :)
