OT I love kids but they dont belong in the workplace

Okay guys.

I know i'm hormonal today but i just need to vent.  I love kids.  i really do.  but HELLO  they dont belong with you ALL DAY at work.
A woman in the accounting department has her 5 yr old with her today. The kid has been running around the office ALL DAY.  People are trying to work here.
The first couple of hours i just tried to ignored him.  He is walking around to the different office trying to sell his "drawings" for $3.00 ea  LOL  (okay thats kinda cute)  but kind of annoying at the same time
His mother isnt even keeping an eye on him he is litterally running around the office.  There is a small set of stairs by my desk and he keeps running up them 3 steps and jumping off the top.  Ive told him 4 or 5 times to stop and to go back to his mother

It is really really starting to **** me off.   I can understand if there is a scheduleing conflict and you need to bring you child in for an hour or two but ALL DAY!

I havent said anything because i dont want to be rude
BUT..  Is it just me???

I LLLOOOVVVVEEEE Children,,, BUT you are absolutely right kazwel!!!! The workplace is NO place for a child, UNLESS U RUN A DAYCARE!!!!! HEHE
Gosh, when I was working, that was my sanity. I used to go to work to take a lil break from the grind of runnin after children. I couldnt imagine being on the phone with a client or something and then you got him in the background jumpin stairs?????? I think the mom should get a lil respect for the rest of the workers. I could see if you were REALLY stuck and had a tiny baby that sleeps most of the day.
AND, thats not right trying to SELL his pics. He should be GIVING them to the workers.

As much as i dont want to be a witch,  if he is there again today i will have to say somthing.  I completely understand if your child has to come in for an half an hour or so but all day is a bit much
She had absolutly NO controll on the child.

Hopefully today will be better, i'm sure it will be.
:)

No, I totally agree with you.  You probably handled it better than I would have lol!!!  Work should be work and as stressfree as possible.  A chap running around all day would have stressed me out esp. if you have a job that requires thought and concentration.  Hope your next day at work is better.  If you have been reading the other posts you will see that I vented a little yesterday!!  Sometimes it is just best to let it out especially around others who won't judge you! :)
Oh, and solution to the problem.......CALL IN SICK DAY!!!

I can't imagine why the mother would decide to do that--I wouldn't be able to work with my kids there!  She must have really had a conflict and felt like she couldn't NOT come in to work today?

I'm sure that kid is so bored!
