Diaper question

So I am having problems with my daughter's diaper. They always leak no matter what diaper I use. I was using Pamper's Swaddler and they were fine for the first few weeks but then the mess began. I switched to Huggies and again they were good for the first couple of days and then the mess began again. I bought Babies R Us brand diapers and they were doing good until today when they got messy. I change her about every 3 hours. The problem is when she has a bowel movement. She gets it everywhere even if it's just a little. It goes up her back and to the sides and her stomach. Any idea what can be causing this? I have given away most of her Pamper diapers and Huggies diapers so I'm just waisting money. Which diapers do you recommend?

It doesnt matter what diaper you use I think it the baby. When my daughter has her blow out it doesn't matter the diaper, it usually goes up her back. The other day it was running down her leg. It happened with my oldest daughter too. I hate you gave away those diapers.

I got a pack of huggies at my babyshower but bought pampers and for me it was the huggies that leaked when I put it on my daughter. I use pamers baby dry and it works good for her. I havent had one leak problem with it :]

Oh once it did go up her back but that was because she pooped SO much but from what I read it's either because the diaper is too small or not on good enough. Now I make sure and have it high up the back before fastening and it seems to work.

Well thanks girls. I have however, noticed more mess with huggies. I have noticed less mess with the Babies R Us diapers. I tried using Huggies and Pampers all day yesterday and I had to change her clothes about 3 times due to the mess. The other times were just urine, so she was fine.  It is so frustrating to have to change my daughter so many times in one day. I am actually thinking about just giving away her new box of Huggies and Pampers since I doubt I will be using them anymore. I think I will also try putting the diaper covers on her to prevent the mess.

It must be with most young babies. Mine is breastfed too so I think it's a little more of a disaster because it's a bit more watery! I've been making sure that I have the tabs right beside each other, it's snug but not tight and pull those ruffles out like Annie mentioned. I've mainly been using Huggies. I've been just using what I've been given from my showers. Mainly it's all huggies. I love the smell of Pampers though!!

my daughter did the same, i guess its with most young babies. i put a vest on to reduce poop seeping through. had to throw most of her vests out. there is a powder called nappisan that will take the stains out in the washing machine. if you use white vests then you can use a whitening powder to clean harder. just one poop can explode through layers of clothes, she has wore a lot of stuff only once.

Which buggies are you using? I'm using the little smugglers and I've never had any problems. It could just be how she poops though. My oldest had explosive poops that would shoot up her back... but that's just how she pooped. A lot at one time. I'd food down the back edge of her diaper to work as a guard against it leaking out.

I had started on cloth diapers with covers, and my boy peed through those so fast that I finally gave up at about 4 months and went over to Pampers (Swaddlers).  Maybe you could get some of the waterproof covers they make for cloth diapers and use them over the disposables?  I also learned to move fast when I could tell he was pooping, just so it wouldn't sit a long time and get a chance to work its way into every crevice.  Maybe there is some way to cinch the waist a little tighter?  And do be sure to PULL OUT THE RUFFLES, in other words, to put it on her and then slide your fingers between her bottom and the diaper and pull it outward onto her legs so the elastic at the legs is not folded in.  They have that inner elastic and it can fold in and get up into her bottom crevice, even though outwardly the diaper looks fine, and then it's all over, if she poops.
