Pityriasis Rosea

Hi everyone, just a quick question. I'm 10 weeks today, but since about 6 weeks, I developed Pityriasis Rosea. I've never had it before, and so when I was diagnosed I immediately googled it (after the doctor told me not to worry, even though his eyes almost bulged from his head when I showed him! Not very convincing!) and read a lot of horror stories, such as the Italian study where 38 pregnant women with the virus were monitored, 5 miscarried and 9 had premature births. Has anyone had this during pregnancy? Was everything ok? Thanks!

I am not a doctor, but I would say the miscarraiges & problems for those women were not related at all to pityriasis rosea. I know it's hard to know for sure, but because my pityriasis is responding to the tanning bed (after doing research the UV light has helped in some studies), my bet is it is just a skin condition. It is not a fungus, but it's very unusual that it responds/gets better with UV light. I had my second tanning visit today (for just 5 minutes each time)... I'm very fair skinned, and I am amazed at the improvement already. The herald patch on my shoulder is getting lighter & so is most of the rash on my body. I am thrilled with that because I am covered in it... stomach, both shoulders, neckline, up right side of neck, all of my beck in Christmas tree pattern & a few spots on my legs. It's surprising that it is helping. The tanning bed has not been without a price though because the itching is worse, but I contribute that to it getting better... it's kind of like when you get a sunburn and peel. I'm flakier than ever & itching terribly, but I'm healing. I'm also using mineral oil as a moisturizer to soothe my skin. Anyway, get outside & get a little sun... safely of course for you and the baby, and see what happens. I'm fair sknned so I've only had 10 minutes total of tanning & wow! Before that, I was so embarassed with this condition, and would try to stay covered up. I stopped doing that & got outside in tank tops. I noticed my arms improving after getting some sun mowing the yard one day. After that, I took myself to the tanning salon. Just as a few others have posted on the internet, I'm getting the same great results. If it's a virus as some say, then why is the sun killing what's on the service. Maybe I just don't understand how it really works, but I'm not giving up on what's helping me right now. I hope it passes soon for you & you find some relief too. Congratulations on the baby.

I have no clue about it but I just wanted to say that the best thing to do is stop searching it online cause your just scaring yourself and that's not good. It is probably better to call your ob and schedule an appt and tell him your concern and worry. That's there job :0)I know this is probably very stressful but the internet is probably not going to help that. You will be in my thoughts and again I have no clue about it but sometimes ignorance is bliss.I had pre eclampsia with my son and thankfully no internet to worry me so I thought everything was normal. Not till afterI had my son did I research it.  sometimes that's best. Not the not knowing but the internet thing.lol
