I'm due Thursday and there is no sign of her coming. They are discussing stripping my membrane. Any advice, comments, personal stories?

Every woman is different. I had a membrane strip with my second child. I don't recall it being all that bad. However, I had one on Tuesday... And it hurt like hell. I told the doc that I don't recall it being THAT bad... She said that my cervix was still pretty high. So, it's a bit more painful and harder for her to reach. So, I guess there's a lot that gets factored in.

The more relaxed you are the better it goes. But I'd give it a 6/10.

I had one done yesterday and its honestly not that bad. It isnt a painful procedure but is uncomfortable and whilst its being done gives you very strong period type pains. If i had to score on pain id say a 3 but it is more uncomfortable than painful. The midwife who did mine said stay floppy from the waist down and its much easier and it is very good advice. Just take slow focused breaths and its honestly not that bad. Dont listen to horror stories xx

That's pretty quick. I know everyone has a different level of pain tolerance but on a 1-10 how bad was the procedure?

It's been shown to be safe and help lessen the length of pregnancy. But I'd warn you that its not comfortable!!!

I had this done with my son at 39 weeks. It was done at my doctor's appointment around 3:00 pm (no signs of labor starting) and at 12:45 am, I woke up in active labor. He was due 12.25.12 and was born 12.18.12. I asked my doctor about doing it with this pregnancy and she was on board.
