I am going to take mine when I get it, that way the lactation consultant can show me how to use it. I have a sister who pumped as well, but I would rather them tell me if I'm doing it right or wrong. Plus they might be more beneficial to show you ways to make it hurt less because my sister didn't like it because it hurt her to use it. For the people who don't know how to get one, I called my health insurance and they instructioned me on how to get it. With mine, I could go to a target pharmacy or I could go online and get one. Read reviews on them too and make sure it's what you want.
I was think abt it.. it's not a bad idea to take it if they r going to teach u how to use it. I git mine also from my insurance but it's the 1st one I get that double pump.
I wouldn't take it. It's just one more thing to pack. I think you can figure out the pump on your own, if the nipple shield is too big you will know and if it's too small you will know.
I didn't take mine, I had an emergency c section. I did take advantage of the lactation consultant while i was there and got all the breast feeding positions down. My sister in law showed me how to use the pump weeks later. If you don't have anyone to show you maybe it would be a good idea.
Did you sanitize it before hand or were you able to do that in the hospital with the lactation consultant?
Call your insurance, they will explain the whole process. You pretty much want to have the prescription for it and take it or have your doctor fax it to the medical supply store that your insurance will give you. But make sure you call a few medical supply stores and see which breastpumps they have and then choose which one you want. My doctor wrote and faxed the prescription for a regular breastpump but I called the medical store after my appointment and told them I wanted the Medela Pump Instyle Advanced, I literally got it the next day.
I wouldn't bring it to the hospital. They will bring the baby over all the time for u to feed him n give u formula bottles also. U can choose to just breast feed there n most of the time u will either be feeding the baby or sleeping to try to recover. N if u have a cervical birth u will just be there for one day.
It was recommended to me that I bring my pump to the hospital so that the lactation consultant can teach me how to use it properly and use the right size attachments and how to adjust the settings to optimize production.
U have to call the insurance Co and see what they cover first. My insurance through blue cross blue shield tn covered 200 on a pump of my choice but not accessories. Then u have to send the receipt in and they will cut u a check to pay u back bout 10 to 15 days later.
Hi, I'm sorry I don't have an answer for your question but I have a question for you.. How did you go about getting the breast pump through your health insurance? My baby doctor told me I could do the same thing but I don't know how to go about getting it.
