Crappy Midwife!!

So this is my second baby, currently 26 weeks.

My first midwife was like my best friend for the whole 9 months, she was so sweet and I felt I could contact her with any concerns at any time, she gave me a mobile number so I always had a way of contacting her, she always called me after scans etc to make sure everything was OK.. She was absolutely fab at all my appointments!

This one!! Urghhh! We have no connection, I literally feel like a name on a list of ladies she has to put up with. She doesn't give me chance to air any concerns or questions. Hasn't contacted me once in 8 weeks where the last time I saw her I was referred to hospital for a scan because she couldn't find baby's heartbeat. The one phone number I do have for her is useless as it always says 'line busy' after hours of trying to get through. I have no idea when I'm supposed to see her again either.

Is it just me or is she bloody useless?! :( anyone in the UK going through NHS had this? And can I change my midwife??? Thanks in advance!

You should be able to change midwife. It's important to have a midwife you feel comfortable with. Look up the NHS guidelines in what you should expect from the midwife and if this one is not meeting the requirements, make a complaint. The NHS are good at dealing with complaints about medial staff...and I have experience of that. I'm using a private company called Neighbourhood midwives. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion as this is my first baby and I want a home birth. Good luck!

My midwife sounds like your first one! She's awesome c: but as she's leaving soon she's had to request a new midwife via the hospital to see to me during my final month before bub is due. I know with the NHS you can ask the hospital or even raise concerns with your GP who can contact the appropriate people for you c: you can get assigned a new midwife if you strongly feel neglected by your current one
