employment discrimination

so i was pretty much forced into telling my boss about my pregnancy i work at a sushi restaurant and one day she kept insisting that i eat sushi with everyone (raw)  for one im not a sushi fan for 2 i know raw fish is bad.. So i kept saying no thanks.. She got mad and asked "why" i had to tell her im pregnant.. Right away instead of saying congrats or how far along.. She says "when arr u going to quit" i tell her im not.. Thinking shes joking.. She says " u have to.. With a big belly your going to look funny being a waitress" i insisted i was not going to quit.. So she left it at that.. A few days later she calls me saying i dont have to come to work cuz its slow.. The next day same thing but shes not feeling well so no work for me..and now she cut my days from 6 a week to 2 a week.. What can i do legally about this if anything..?

I am currently working with a lawyer who says i have a real strong case! I also filed a discrimination report with the fair employment board..

There are definitely discrimination laws about this. If she said it in front of coworkers,  have them write a statement and take it to the department of labor or a rep near you and have them deal with it. Very poor business skills! If nothing happens with that, I would share it with the local news station, I am sure every working mother would be behind you in boycotting that place. I am for small business, but not small people.

Even if you did have a case, which you may not, who wants to work for someone that unsympathetic anyways?! Do yourself and your boss a favor and look for something that makes you happier especially when stress is so crucial to avoid if possible. This may be a sign it's time to leave...good luck! I hope you spend more efforts in proving this lady wrong. The best revenge is a well lived life!

In Arkansas they have a law where the right to work law. N they can fire u when ever they want n not even have to explain it to u. U just need some proof when u do bc otherwise u won't have a case.

I don't know what country you are in but here in New Zealand discrimination due to pregnancy is again human rights.  I would look up your human rights act and find what you can around discrimination in work. Take a copy of your human rights act to your boss manager and if she still keeps doing it maybe go to higher management. If all that fails do you have a workers union in your country we have a group of people dedicated to protecting workers rights.  Someone like that may help or even try getting advice from a lawyer if there is none of this in your country.  I hope things work out for you. This extra stress doesn't help I'm sure.
