smoking before 20 weeks

I'm 20 weeks today and I was so stressed last night so I asked my partner for half of his cigarette. I haven't smoked since I was 6 weeks pregnant and I'm freaking out that I've done something to the baby because he hasn't moved since I had that cigarette.. Can it harm the baby if i only had half and thats all i was planning on having. This is my first and I'm freaking out in case he's not alright..

A lot of pregnant women smoke. And yes regular smoking can cause problems for the baby. REGULAR... Half a cigg since 6 weeks preg isn't regular use dear your baby will be fine. And confession I smoke sometime too when I have had a rly rough day. My Dr is aware of it and though he doesn't completely approve he did say that it is not considered regular use and very unlikely to have any negative effects on my baby.

Feeling stressed is an ongoing symptom/side effect to quitting smoking. It only takes a few drags to make yourself ruin how good you've been doing and want to start smoking more again. Smoking is also habitual. So if you decide to smoke every time you're stressed that is all you will EVER want to do when you feel that way. You need to find new ways to cope with your stress...because it honestly sounds like that half of a cigarette has brought you nothing but more stress. To top it off, your baby is possibly at risk  (although the chances are low from only that little bit, there is still a small risk). Put your baby first, not the cigarettes. I had to quit smoking too. I smoked for 10 years. Don't let the cigarette control your life. You can do it.

Please be careful and find other ways to deal with your stress. My niece lost her son and delivered him still born due to smoking. However, she did get pregnant again and continued to smoke during this pregnancy. She delivered a week ago at 7 months pregnant.. her son is 3lbs and in ICU right as we speak. Think of your child...would you hand half of cigarette to your new born baby? Well that's what you are doing when you choose to smoke during pregnancy. Some women would do anything to be able to bear a child so if you can it is a gift from God.

U should have thought about that before u smoked . It's crazy how people always think of stuff after u do something bad. U didn't forget u were pregnant. So u should have thought about ur baby before u smoked.

No your baby is fine I had smoked sometimes during my pregnancy and though it is wrong an half a cig wont harm the baby it is the consistency of smoking cigarettes that can..
