Back from anatomy scan and ob appt

Well we did get another confirmation we're having a baby girl for sure no doubt. She's measuring right on track and weighs 12oz. Everything looks great and we got tons of cool pictures. I loaded some of them on my profile page.

The dr said the pain I'm having is similar to pulling a muscle on your abdomen. After the muscle is pulled the rest of your uterus feels crampy for a few hours because it's sore and having little muscle twitches. I was glad to hear it was normal, but oh man does it hurt. She said it will probably continue to happen every few days as the baby grows.

She said my induction date is 9/9/09 and we'll start early in the morning so the baby will probably be born on that date. Alex was born in 3 hours from start to finish so I don't think that will be a problem. Kind of a cool due date. I'll be surprised if I make it that far, but you never know. I go in next month for my 24 week appointment and cervix ultrasound and then I see them every two weeks for a cervix us and my regular appts. I'm kind of bummed about having to continue to get the vaginal us every two weeks, but at least if preterm labor starts they'll know about it early.

Anyhow it was amazing watch her on the screen jumping around and kicking. She was sucking her thumb again too!

I was thinking the same thing about how a baby has a personality even before he or she is born. Bella kept trying to put her whole fist in her mouth and when it didn't work out she would kick and flap her arms around and then try again. It was like she was getting annoyed at her own hand.

I'm getting use to the vag ultrasound, but I have two complaints....
1. that cover up sheet they give you is made of paper and big enough to half wrap around and cover one side so I always cover the side facing the tech.
2. I always get crampy after.

I have had a ton of vaginal u/s when we were doing fertility treatments.   They were a piece of cake to me,,,   But yes, I would def. prefer the abdominal u/s instead.  We don't like exposing our "goodies" any more than we have to.  =)

All our babies are so cute aren't they.  At each ultrasound, one of my twins is def. more active than the other one. One time we even saw one of the twins actually taking her hand and poking the sac like it was investigating the other one on the other side.  I guess all babies are just different.  And they even already have their own little personalities inside the womb.  How neat!

well i have to say i feel a little better now because my little one was not very active this last time (although i think i drank my sugar too early and he was ready for a nap) i thought i just had a lazy baby...

i have to have my cervix checks vaginal too, but its only a minute in and i think its because they can see the stitch better? i dunno, it is annoying though, i hate having to undress for those things

Yay Nic! I think the things she was doing on the ultrasound are so cute! Makayla was active, but not that active...she was trying to cover her goodies! LOL

Well, I am glad all went well!  The big u/s is so much fun.  I always get tears in my eyes :)  Mine was relaxing a bit, but she did not want to move her hands away from her face.  It was so cute....

Oh you have to be kidding me! I thought they didn't have any other way to check the cervix! That's pretty funny I guess it's just the way they do at that office at least it only takes a minute or two. Mine measured today at 4.14 and they said that's good so far.

I wanted the baby to be moving so I ate an orange in the parking lot and drank really cold water right before I went in. It worked she was going crazy flipping over and moving around. She got hicups and sucked her thumb.

The pains are typical when the uterus stretches as far as it wants to go the muscles and ligaments pull just like if you worked out too hard at the gym or lifted a box that was too heavy. Because I have bad cramping after, but not contractions it's just muscle related not really hurting the baby at all.

Why will they only do vaginal ultrasounds to check your cervix?  They measured my cervix by abdominal ultrasound at my 18 week anatomy scan.  It was 4.69 (cm?)  Which she said was nice and long.

Congrats on the exciting news today!  Belly Rubs to Bella!!

aw! I'm glad everything is going well! =) At my last u/s...my baby was so quiet and still. Barely moved an inch!!! I guess I just have laid back babies. lol. Jeremiah is pretty laid back and didn't move a whole lot when I was pregnant with him. I'm the same way. Hubby is the total opposite and always has to be moving and doing something. Glad so far, they seem to be taking after me! haha.
