Thanks ladies. for all the responses.
hey lily went from pretty much 5 a day to 1 every 8 days i spoke with her pead and he said completely normal!
breastfed babies pooh less often because they are using nearly all of the nutrients and there is a lot less waste. My son is exclusively breastfed is only going once every 5 days. It complicates things when you are adding formula so if you LO is in pain, has a bloated tummy, or passes hard stools you'll need to talk to your ped about constipation. It is nearly impossible for EBF'd babies to be constipated.
Latrice, I sencerely hope your ped recommended the karo syrup.
I am BFing Jesse exclusively and he has a poopy diaper almost every diaper change, sometimes every other diaper change. Once he gets a littler older, he won't go as often. But I think it's different if Brandon is getting some formula. It may be normal not to go as often.
when i was jus breastfeeding trinity went after evry feeding or every other feeding almost 10 poops a day. now i nurse at nite and formula during day, she dont go as often. she is gassy and seems constipatrd bcuz she grunts when she is tryn 2 go but nothing happens. I dont think that is accurate about breastfeed babies, that they only go once a week, they would go more bcuz breastmilk is easily digested, and babies on formula dont go as often bcuz its harder to digest.
I rub castor oil on her tummy and i also give her a teaspoon of the white karo syrup,
when i give the syrup she normally will go about 10 hours later. I am using similac advanced, but i think i want a formula with low iron, iron causes constipation and will make your poops green. in the nursing home if a resident has not pooped n 3 days, we have to give them something 2 make them go.
Totally normal!!! Jake gets very smelly and is going once every 5 days or so.
