Measurements

First let me say, sorry for not being 'around' lately. I've been super busy lately.
Anyway... I've been measuring big the last few doc visits. I'm just curious if any of you have measured big with previous pregnancies. What did you do (extra u/s, etc) and did you have a big baby or an early birth....
I'm not concerned at all about this....should I be?

ha- thats interesting bc i was worried about the samething! when i went for my last appointment i was measuring 29 weeks when really i was 27!
the samething happened to my sister - she was due with my niece on 9/5 of last yr and they ended up inducing her on 8/19 weighing 9lbs and i believe 3 oz and she always measured bigger than she was suppose too!
ever since my ob.gyn started measuring me ive always measured 1-2 wks bigger.so i try to let everyone know that she might come maybe at the end of august since im due 9/5 i just have "that" gut feeling!
so your not alone =)

Yea you are fine! You could still go all the way to your due date. It's not always accurate being measured like...and even an u/s after the 1st trimester can be off as well. The baby will come when ready! =) As long as you are not contracting in some sort of pattern, I wouldn't worry about pre-term labor. Some women measure ahead, some behind, and others right on time. It's not an exact science.

at 24 weeks i was measuring 27 but my ob didnt say anything...i was at first worried a little but like they all said, i think its normal...i havent gained much weight in the last 4 weeks, only 3lbs so things must be good, you are probably fine...welcome back!

I measured one week ahead by measuring tape when I was 19 weeks, I measured 3 weeks ahead when I was 23 weeks, and this week I measured 2 weeks ahead and I'm 27 weeks.
My midwife said that we would keep an eye on it for my next few visits and go from there. My ultrasound measured him to be right on my previous EDD but that was when I was 18 weeks.
I'm not worried about it but I kinda want to know if I should be expecting him a little early. I don't want to be freaking out thinking I'm going into "preterm" labor when I'm really not... I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks ladies.

How are you getting measured? U/S or measuring tape.  Im measuring 2weeks ahead by measuring tape, but as chantal said its normal to be ahead or behind. I dont think i will have a big baby, and if anything i may go early if i continue to try and work until end of august, being that being on your feet for long periods of time can cause pre term labor.

I meant to add...at my last midwife visit with this pregnancy (i was 24 weeks) I was measuring just about 2 weeks ahead. Completely normal to be a couple of weeks behind or ahead.

With my son, through the entire pregnancy I was measuring 2 weeks ahead. Toward the end I measured almost 4 weeks ahead and he was born 2 weeks early and was 8lbs 4oz. He was pretty big for being early. I didn't have any extra u/s because of it though. How far ahead are you measuring now? If your doc isn't concerned, I wouldn't worry about it.
