UPDATE:::I think I finally have an answer to the pre-term labor contractions!!!

I had my appt. today and when I got there I had to use the restroom before my doc checked me. I noticed a bit of watery discharge on my underwear and not just a small area, so when I got to the room I let her know. She checked me and said I am still 1cm with a very soft cervix and baby is still floating. YAY! Nothing has changed there. She then took a swab and checked it out. Thankfully it was not the fluid and I have bacterial vaginosis. No symptoms, no foul odor, nothing!! So I am on an antibiotic for a week. She said that can actually cause pre-term labor! So I wonder if that's what is going on then.

How do you get that anyway? Is it pretty common in pregnancy?

I am still on complete bedrest and still taking the pills every 4 hours now to stop the contractions. I have only had one contraction today and that was just a little while ago. I haven't had any ALL night long!! =)

The OB I am working with now until my midwife can take over again is so wonderful. We don't have insurance and she barely charges me anything for the visits. I am so thankful! I just found out also that she delivered my husband!!! How crazy is that? lol. She is getting ready to retire soon though.

Also, I had a 3D/4D scan booked for next thursday. It's just a fun scan, not medical at all. So I asked her what she thought about it and she told me to cancel with them and come to her office for a 3D/4D scan instead. I can get pictures and everything still, but it will cost MUCH less and she wants to take the baby's measurements as well and make sure he/she is growing properly! (the other place does not do that, as they are just technicians, no certified doctors) yay!  She will also be checking me again next week to make sure things aren't changing. I am guessing I will be seeing her or my midwife every week now until I deliver. They both want me to be able to deliver with my midwife after 36 weeks. I am praying nothing changes.

Today has been a good day for me and I feel really good about everything. Just wanted to update you all!!!

Thank you!!

Nicole...my mom just bought me yogurt yesterday, so I will definitely be doing that now. I have heard that it can help, so hopefully it will help me steer clear of anyother infections.

I had the bacterial thing too and they said it's just a normal thing that happens when your pregnant. I read online that eating yogurt can help prevent that. Not sure if it works, but since then I've had yogurt 3 times a week and no more infections.

You get bacterial vaginosis from an imbalance of bacterial, basicly too much bacteria grows, we already have some bacteria in our system.

Glad to hear your doing better, jus hang in there.

Thanks ladies! Stacey, I will definitely post pictures next week when I go for the u/s. I am so excited to see my baby and how much he/she has grown!

Michelle...Yea...I am not sure if the infection is what is really causing it or not. I am still a little skeptical with how frequent the contractions have been, but at least it's a start. We'll see if it makes a difference next week or not. I still think I will be on bedrest the rest of my pregnancy though, just as a precaution I guess. Too much walking or moving could probably trigger something?? Who knows. I just want baby to be safe.

Chantal, I am so glad to hear you are doing better.  I hope this infection clearing up will help on those contractions but with the frequency you have been having them, I just don't know??  Of course, a doctor, I am not :)  Just keep those feet up and keep taking your meds and I hope you feel better soon and that your scares are over!!!

That is all good news!  I don't know too much about vaginosis but that is great that you are getting it cleared up.  Hopefully that will stop some of the preterm labour symptoms!  How exciting that you are getting the 3d/4d scan.  Make sure you post pictures!
