Thursday Touch base - Weekending 8/21/10

Just wanted to get this post up early so we can start updating each other on another week gone by.

I have my 38 week appointment this afternoon. I am hoping there is some type of change in my cervix. I will be updating later.

So I rescheduled last weeks apt for this morning at 9:45 I called at 9am the Dr wasn't in they told me to call back at 10 so I did and was told to come in at 10:45. The Dr still wasn't in. I got called back and put in a room. It's now 12 and the Dr just got here. The nurse went ahead and checked me since I have another apt at 1 I can't miss. I don't even know if I'm going to see the Dr again this week.

I'm 40-50% effaced No dilation and baby is at -2 station.

I'm 38w1d today, had my bi-weekly NST on Tuesday and again today and all is well.  Doctor checked me on Tuesday and nothing....still posterior and high and closed.  I guess my body just doesn't know how to start labor on its own.  With all my problems staying pregnant, I guess once I get one to stick my body will not let it go no matter what!  So....another NST on Tuesday of next week and then we are supposed to be at the hospital at 5am next Friday for my c-section!
1 week and counting!  I can't believe it is finally here!!!

waitin - congrats on Emilee coming home....that is so awesome!!!

I had another ultrasound today!

My last ultrasound 2 weeks ago she was just under 6 ponds now today she's weighing in at about 7.7 pounds.
The tech this week only said she's 'about' 3500 grams. She didnt even tell me how many wks Im measuring!
I see the midwife on Monday so I'll find out more then!
But even still.......7.7 pounds? Ahhhhhhhhhh
My 2nd child was 8.7 and she got stuck while I was pushing.
I'm so scared and worried this time around!

jschoch8- Just relax testing positive isn't as bad as  it seems. You will be treated with antibiotics when in labor which greatly reduces the risk of any transfer to baby. Stop google-ing!!  I know sometimes it can be hard to walk away from google.

I went in for my 38 week apt yesterday. I was so p!ssed when I got home at 9pm! I just started cleaning and finishing up packing mine and the baby's hospital bags.

My appointment was for 5:30 I felt like I had been forgotten about so I finally got dressed I had to pee sooo bad! Which I knew he was going to be doing and exam which really would have been painful with a full bladder. I looked at what time it was 8:15PM!!  I went out to ask the nurse how many patients were still in front of me. She told me FOUR!!!! There was NO WAY I was waiting another hour at the least to see the Dr after being there for almost 3 already. I rescheduled for the first available apt on Monday.

I have gotten pretty much everything ready for the baby now. Only thing I have to buy is the bath tub. I will be buying tomorrow. I still need to go out to the garage and dig out the storage bin with all her bath items and my boppy in it.

I have noticed that GA hasn't posted in a few days. I know she was suppose to going back to VA to deal with her mothers estate. I hope she hasn't had the baby because of all the stress she has been under or any complications.

Hooray!!! Way to go Emilee!  You must be so relieved.  I am glad she got the temp issues under control and can come home where she belongs.  You are so lucky and blessed.  She has done so amazing for a 32 weeker - you have one strong and determined little girl - enjoy every minute of her.

I'm so happy to hear your baby is doing great waitn!

I'm 36 weeks now! Only one more week till baby is considered full term!! I had my 35 week appointment on monday and that went well, baby is sitting super low apparently and already "actively engaged in the birthing position on top of my cervix" so that's exciting to hear!
I have her diaper bag packed, and going to be packing my own bags for the hospital over the next few days. Also I have her carseat and that is now installed in my vehicle :)
Weight gain has been great, still gaining a pound a week and I've gained 22 pounds now! So by the end of it all I won't have too much to lose which is a huge relief to myself!

im so happy for you you finally get to bring your little girl home! im glad everything was ok even with the gbs. from what ive read (too much) you had some major risk factors - temp during delivery, PROM, and a baby before 37 weeks. do you remember what antibiotics they put you on? have fun with your beautiful little girl!

hey ladies...just wanted to update ya'all on whats going on with me (even though my baby is here already)

EMILEE WILL BE COMING HOME TOMORROW!!!! born at 32 weeks gestation and took off running...she eats like a champ and is up to 4 lbs 10 oz (she was 4 lbs 3 oz at birth)...the only issue we ran into with her was maintaining her temps...however, after some bloodwork and a minor setback it turns out she runs cool like her momma...

jschoch8 - i just wanted to let you know and not to scare you....i did not have the GBS test done because i wasnt due for that for a few weeks yet...the doc treated me as if i was positive and i was given antibiotics during my delivery...i also was on antibiotics because my water broke so early and i was at a high risk of infection from that...i developed a fever during delivery and an infection...it sounds scary but the infection was passed on to my baby and they had to keep on her on antibiotics for 7 days...it could have been much worse...i just wanted to give you a point of view from somebody whose baby did have an infection passed on...the whole delivering a baby at 32 weeks scared the crap out of me but im so thankful and blessed...good luck with everything

to the rest of you sept moms...i cant believe how close everybody is....i feel kinda robbed because i dont get to the feel the baby move or get the hiccups...its like a door that shut and just like that the preg was over...however, im very thankful for a healthy beautiful baby girl

i really dont think hubby and i are going to try for another...this is the 3rd time i had PROM and luckily this time our baby made....we lost 2 in the past and i dont think we could stomach another loss...we are happy with our family and our miracles and i guess this is where it ends...its just hard to believe that ill never be preg again....

cant wait to see all these pics of the babies coming

thanks for the encouragement im really trying not to worry about it and know its fairly common. thats so cute how your baby reacted to your voice. at my appt the heartbeat was 114 (lowest yet) so i did my doppler even though she was moving like crazy when i was doing it and it was in the 170s! its amazing how much it can fluctuate.

I had my 36 week appoinment this past Monday. My weight is up to 144. I've still not gained past my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm at least not losing anymore weight. They also start checking dilation and the GBS test next week. I'm starting to get really nervous about labour and when it's going to happen. The pains are getting a lot worse as each day passes, so I'm wondering if it will be soon or not. No other real changes beyond this though.

I had my 38 week appointment today - pretty uneventful.  My doctor did not do an internal but everything seems fine.  The one cute thing was that the baby's heartrate was on the low side of normal (125-129) until I started talking to him and then shot up to 145 - it was neat to see him respond to my voice.  I am focusing on getting some last minute things ready and on getting as much work done (from work) before he gets here.  Not much else to report.

jschoch8 - I would really not worry about the GBS.  Even in women who are positive and deliver vaginally without antibiotics, the rate of transmission to the baby is really low - so with antibiotics, you and your baby will be fine.  The chances of transmission prenatally are infinitely small.  My advice is to get off the internet ASAP - it will only drive you crazy.  Everything will be fine.

Today I am 35 weeks......starting to destress about everything, however I wish my house was in a little better shape, its just sooo cluttered and not enough space for anything.....I had to miss my appt this week because work would not switch my shift even though I tild them I was supposed to have my appt today so now I have to wait until next wed which means I will have gone 3 weeks without seeing the doc....other than that everything is normal...no changes at all.

i seriously cant stop obsessing with being positive for group b strep. i asked my doc to retest me next week as i want to cure naturally (although i will still accept the antibiotics during labor if neg). im more afraid of an infection before labor as i know gbs can cross intact membranes. i NEED to put the computer down and try to enjoy my last two weeks.
