Same thing. That's exactly how I am. Tums work within 30 seconds to a minute!

I googled it for you. Well more for myself really coz I'm a nerd. The two terms are often used interchangeably. However, technically, acid reflux is the ACTION of stomach acid creeping up the oesophagus (at any height - chest or throat), and heartburn is the FEELING of pain you get from that. Or, acid reflux is the medical condition, and heartburn is the symptom.

So they're basically the same, except that you CAN have acid reflux without heartburn (if it's not painful) but you can't have heartburn without also having acid reflux.

Learn something new everyday ;)

I always say I have heartburn when I feel it in my chest and acid reflux when it's more in my throat and it feels very acidic, burping a lot too. I always have tums with me, they usually make it go away. Sometimes drinking water will make it worse, bending over a lot will trigger it too. Keeping chewing those tums!

Yeah heartburn is just a more colloquial name for acid reflux, there's no difference. Mine is so bad lately, pretty sure it's damaged my oesophagus because I've got this awful chronic cough now that gets worse as my heartburn gets worse :( At least I'm strengthening my pelvic floor muscles from all the coughing!
