I had my little girl last week. I had a feeling for weeks that she would be early, each day for about 3 weeks I'd wake up to mucus when I went to the toilet. Last Thursday I had a curry for tea and bounced on my yoga ball for an hour then had an early night. I woke up at 1am to a huge gush of water! I jumped in the shower then rang the hospital, they said I needed to get checked because I wasn't contracting.
At the hospital they monitored me and baby for an hour then sent me home. I had another check up that afternoon then I had to go in again Sat morning to be induced.
On Saturday I had a tablet to thin my cervix as I was only 1cm dilated. I then waited all day (no pain at all yet) then they put me on a drip at 6pm. They kept upping the dosage but all was getting was back pain :( at 10pm they said I was still only 2cm dilated and not even technically in labour but baby had turned (after 9 months of being bum to belly she was bum to back)
At midnight my midwife got a doctor to turn the drip right up and they said I should be having a lot worse contractions and this was going to last another 8-10 hours. At this point I asked for an epidural as I knew I couldn't go that long with the pain in my back but the surgeon was in theatre, I had to wait an hour for him so the midwife gave me diamorphine until he was free. At 12.45 I needed to push, I was so embarrassed because i thought I just needed a poo, I didn't think at all it was baby as it hadn't been 8 hours even the midwife said that it couldn't be baby but once she looked she could see baby's head!! I pushed for 5 minutes and baby was here (I cried my eyes out!) Then I had an injection and 5 mins later my placenta was out too.
I Was technically in labour for about half an hour!!
Nearly a week later and I'm laid here with little Lara and totally in love. The way I saw it during pregnancy and still now, every pregnancy is different and you don't know how you will cope, even though it is scary it is also the most beautiful and amazing experience in the world and once that baby is in your arms the world just stops and nothing else matters. Just keep focusing on that moment!
Good luck with your pregnancy and delivery your beautiful baby will be with you soon :) xxx

Mine happened on a Saturday. Around 11:00am I got a cramp like pain that lasted about 10 seconds or less and it came and went every 15 min. I called l&d and they told me to head in when they were 5 min apart. I showered and shaved because I was self conscious. My mom came to my house because she was anxious lol. At about 4:30 I arrived at the hospital. From then on the contractions progressively got closer. At about 6 or 7 pm I had to use the restroom and was shocked when I looked down at the toilet and seen a lot of blood. My mom said don't worry that is was normal. Finally at 9pm I was at a 9. They broke my water and immediately had the feeling I needed to push. By 9:20 my son was born. It went pretty smoothly. I had only an i.v. drop of medication for pain which didn't help at all. O hope this one goes just as smooth and wouldn't complain if it went a little faster!
