2nd Baby Shower?

We are expecting baby #2 in October.  Our son will be 2 in September.  I have been contemplating having a baby shower for baby #2 (a girl) for a few reasons.

-we have the big stuff: pack and play, extra High chair, bouncy seat, swing, jumper, stroller/car seat, etc.,
-they are close in age, so the stuff we have really isn't outdated/expired.
-it is a gender change and while we have some gender neutral clothes, we are setting up a second nursery. Our son is still using his crib (it will ultimately convert to a full size bed as he grows)

Would you have a 2nd shower for the newer, "girly" clothes, lil toys, maybe crib sheets, etc.?

We didn't have a second shower, 2 boys, 21 months apart. We did have a "beer and diaper party" on a football Sunday for the 3rd because the gap was 9 years and people insisted we do something. I'm glad we did because the people in our lives now, aside from family, are completely different than before and a new baby is a great wat to celebrate.

I have a ten month old son, currently 29/2 pregnant with second baby (girl). And yes I am having a shower, but not quite a normal baby shower, it will be a diaper/bath shower... We decided since we have all the big stuff, my son is still in his crib as well. I had a friend who gave me her daughters crib/ toddler bed her daughter is 3 now... But with the diaper/bath shower the ppl bring diapers, wipes, bath soaps, lotion, bum cream, towels, bath cloths, and shampoo etc... I will purchase most of the clothes as some will bring clothes or nighties as well. We had a normal shower with my son and I didn't have to buy diapers or wipes for quite some time it saved me tons of  money!!! Congrats, I hope this helps... I pray you have a safe, quick, healthy delivery!

I was given a shower for all three of mine boy, girl and now a boy again. the first one was big first child shower, the second was girly, and the last one was a diaper and wipes shower.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I talked to my mom as well and she said the same thing. I think we'll just keep it a smaller shower this time.

Yes on baby shower I'm having a baby shower for my second baby. Even though I already have a two year old girl I had to get rid of some of the stuff so we got mainly new big stuff and a shower for clothes and little things.

I think you should have a smaller shower like a sprinkle, that way you at least get girl clothes and maybe crib sheets

I too am prego with a girl, due at the end of the month, and have a son, he just turned one. I wasn't looking forward to going through the process of having another shower, was fine with taking my sis's daughters hand-me-downs, but my family through me one anyway. Glad they did, not just bc I got a bunch of girl clothes and crib sheets and such, but bc of the diapers and wipes. Totally worth it

I am in the same boat. We are doing a baby shower for the clothes and girlie stuff. I think if it was the same gender than I would just a welcome home party.
