Any preg. Laws for being employed

Are there any type of law or laws that help with leave being at a job for less than a year? I'll be at my job 10 months when I have my little boy and was wanting to secure my place?

It depends on the size of the company.  Some companies are too small to come under the Family Medical Leave Act rules.  I worked for a company with only 4 employees, and they didn't have to provide paid leave for a pregnant employee nor promise her job back when she was done, because it would have almost put them out of business to cover her wages for the time she was gone. (They were a shoestring outfit.)  She left and didn't plan to come back, and they gave her a month's salary because they liked her, but I remember them talking about even that being difficult for the company to afford.

Im pretty sure it depends on your employer if your not past the year. All the places I have worked at you can go on short term medical leave after the probationary period for the job (usually 60-90 days). You can ask or call the hr department aND ask them. 1 of my jobs I filled out the fml paperwork and I strongly regret it because they would only approve 6 weeks and then my boss who said oh sure I'll just start you back a few hours here and there tried to schedule me for 8 hours 3 days in a row. I ended up just being too stressed at the thought and told her no. ( this job was a job I did for fun not to actually make money so she pretty much ruined that). My other job didn't even make me fill out paper work just kept me on and sent me a blank schedule. However it's a big company and they are always short staffed where I live.
