ok so I'm 39 weeks now. Getting really eager to meet baby but also quite nervous as I approach my due date!! Can anyone tell me how their contractions felt, I don't know what to expect. Ive been told it feels just like when you get diorreah cramps or gas cramps, which ive been feeling both a lot of but nothing is coming out! Ive no idea if I'm having contractions or just an upset stomach :S my mum says "oh you'll know!" But I just wish I could get a little heads up

They are more like a tightening of your abdomen and then a release. Just time how long it takes your abdomen to tighten then loosen. When they get close together the you are in active labor. But you should wait a little bit to see if they slow down cause if you go to the doctors and you are not in active labor they usually send you back home. But congrats and good luck sweetie. Giving birth is scary but the outcome is so beautiful.

I felt the same with my first. I'm now expecting number 2 in the spring. I had uncomfortable cramping like pain for 2 days and thought for sure I was in early labor. When it stopped of a few hours I was convinced it was braxton hicks and took a hot shower to relax my muscles...I was so soar and tired. Also baby was not very active. As soon as I got out of the shower I laid down and bam I had a sharp pain. At first it was like a pinched nerve kind of feeling and I thought well that's not the right position to be laying in. But then it hit again and again. I took out my timer and notepad and sure enough I was in labor.  I stayed home for as long as I could then hubby loaded me up and off we went. :-) our daughter arrived about 8 hours later.

• pay attention to movement of baby
• every ones labor is different so go with your gut
• good luck!

I'm A first time mom and know EXACTLY what your going through! I have no idea either but everyone tells me that they feel like very harsh period cramps that start in your back and push forward. They will also make your belly very tight. Good luck!

Keep Track of the time if you feel the pains at regular intervals than its real contractions
