membrane sweep?

Has anyone's doctor ever done a membrane sweep for them at 37 weeks? I'm totally over being pregnant I was thinking about asking my doctor for one at my 37 week appt.

Thank you for the response. I really appreciate it. Noone ever responds to my questions for some reason and I'm sorry to hear you had such an awful experience

Every experience is different. And I was young,I didn't know what questions to ask. And I didn't have the best doctors. But, I still think it's important to share my bad experience just to, um... remind (I can't think of a better word to use) others to think of both sides of the coin. Because it's so uncomfortable at the end we're all ready to get it over with and have our sweety baby that sometimes we overlook the possibility of a downside.
But good luck and I really hope you have a much better l&d than I did.

Well I was already 3cms dialed and 70% effaced at my last appt so I'm thinking he's ready and I'm ready so I'm hoping it's OK and she'll do it since he's down and ready

I had one with my first at 39w5d. It put me into labor the same day, but my body wasn't ready and I didn't dialate. I had contractions and my water broke but, no dialation. At the hospital they had to put me on pitocin which made the pain worse. I ended up having an emergency c section I don't think I would have had, had the doctor given me the option to wait. And there was no reason for them to sweep me other than to rush labor. And now, it's less likely I'll be able to have a natural birth this time around.
