Last name?

I'm having a baby boy and was wondering if he can have both mine and his fathers last name BUT my last name first? Would there be legal issues or anything? I've tried looking it up but dont really get answers. My coworker mentioned something about father having more legal rights over his child than the mother if the child has his last name.. but I've never heard of that in Az. Me and my sons dad are currently in a relationship but don't live together. I don't get a long with his family and neither does he with mine which is why its so difficult to maintain a relationship with him and of course I wouldn't want him to have more rights over my son than me just because of the last name.

No it doesn't give more legal rights to the dad.. u can choose how u want the name n if u want to just be both last names or hyphenated. Now if u r not married with the father it doesn't establish paternity either. But u can name him what u want at the hospital. If ur not married once u go to court n establish paternity then even if u didn't include the dads last name they will change it. The court can order both last names or even hyphenate it also. If u r married then u just choose it the way u want it n when u apply for the ss number fill out the application with how u want the last names to appear.

Yes, your name can go first. We also live in Arizona. If you'd like I can get more information from them for you

You should call the government center in your city. I know that if you just don't put his last name on the baby then he has no right but I'm not sure about his last name second

You can put a "-" in between both last names. That's what my sister in law and brother did with their kids
