are braxton hicks suppose to hurt??

This is the second time in 4 nights that I've woken up in the middle of the night with extreme pain on my side and back that moves to my stomach. It's woken me up and I immediately start crying. I've never had braxton Hicks before... Is this it? I'm 33 wks. The pain lasts for about 2 mins then slowly fades leaving me feeling sore in my stomach. Help!

OK thnx for ur responses.. 12 yrs ago I went into preterm labor with my son at 25 wks. I ended up having an emergency c section. I'm scheduled to have another c section at 37 wks which is July 21st. I already have an appt tomorrow morning with my specialist so I will talk to him about it. Thnx for answering my ? :)

I've had the same thing before. I described it to my doctor & he told me false contractions. As you get closer to your due date your body is preparing you for baby. But you will know when its the real deal because the pain continues & gets worse.

Braxton hicks don't hurt mommy at least they've never hurt me. I have them all the time, you might want to call your doctor.
