Well before 37 weeks I think their lungs aren't fully formed so they might have to be on respirators. My sister had to have a csection at 36 weeks and some days and her doctor gave her steroid shots to help my nephews lungs develop stronger so he wouldn't have to be on anything. He didn't need a respirator but they did have a few scares with him where he would have trouble breathing and then go back to normal. He's all healthy now though
I was just wondering.. i had a freind who had her baby at 27 weeks and he was having alot of difficulty. Thank you guys.
By time 37 weeks they are really good. My doctor keeps telling me this little guy has to stay in till 36 weeks. Im guessing she is just concerned because how low he is, my increasing contractions, and my first was 37 weeks. I want him in till 38 weeks. It's pretferred because I really want to have a water birth!!!...
I know at 37 weeks the baby is considered fully formed to survive independently outside. But I'm not sure about premies
I think the life/death line is 24 weeks, but that might be different now with better preemie care. It's not like you would *want* the baby to be born that early, but at least there is a good chance of saving a baby that was born that premature. But is that what you are asking? Or do you mean, "can I induce at 37 weeks without causing my child to be born with poor eyesight" kind of question?
