I had the same problem and asked my dr about it. Sex was painful and it burned. He said to use lube which I told him I was using water based. He said he recommended astroglide instead

Absolutely agree with the heightened sensitivity, so be careful what products you are using. And lube never hurts :)

Try only washing down there with vagisil and get him to only wash his area with that too. That area could just be very sensitive to the soap and products you guys use down there. I had a similar problem and I found out that when I became pregnant that my area became very sensitive.

Maybe you are not producing as much lubrication, it happens during pregnancy. So you're irritating your vagina and that's why it burns. I have not researched that but that's my opinion cause I feel it sometimes after sex.

Sometimes friction causes irritation

I've thought it was a yest infection too but I went to the doctor and they said that it wasnt a yest infection. It dont burn all the time just when we are in the action. The doctors had no clue what it was. Ive been tested for what feels like everything and it shows up nothin. If they examine it then it looks likes burnt welts on the inside of my vagina. Ive thought I should go to the hospital but i dont really think its an emergency since the doctors assured me my baby was in no harm and the only thing at risk was my sex life.
