Totally confused.

Hi, I am a brand new mother. I just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant two days ago. I am SO confused on what steps to take next and how best to go about setting up appointments and what all I should be preparing for. Any advice or information would be a big help!

I went to urgent care to confirm. Took about 10 minutes. Then I called the ob and got an appointment scheduled for when I was 7 weeks.

So you're a little further along than I am. Congratulations. Did they already conduct a blood test and confirm your pregnancy? I have taken 5 tests and all came up positive. I'm wondering if I should make the trip to the health department in the morning or just try to get squeezed into my family doctor.

First go to your primary care provider and get a blood test. It should take 45 mins to get results, if you don't have a OB most care providers will give you options where they will write you a referral stating you are pregnant. Usually you make a 8 week apt for a PA if you haven't had one and also to build your records and then at 10 weeks they will do an ultra sound. Planned parenthood is also a good route to take as they will do the official test as well as set your appointments up. I'm a military wife and just made it to my 6th week with my first child. Make sure you always have crackers for morning sickness and go get some prenatals, stop taking any prescription meds until you clear with your doctor. Stay clear of heavy lifting and straining yourself and make sure to poop regularly, impaction of your colon could lead to serious problems early in pregnancy. And try to stay stress free (:

First relax and set up a appointment with your primary doctor and get your prenatals and get your doctor to send u to a o.b.g.y.n and go from there .
