Ultrasound.

I'm underage, and I'm getting an ultrasound tomorrow where we find out the gender. Does my mom HAVE to be there? Or can I just go with someone who is not my parent .. But is not underage?

You don't have to have a parent. When I started getting my normal obgyn appointments at 14 or 15 my mom did not come in there with me.

I just checked the health laws, and apparently when the issue is pregnancy, even if the mom has to give her consent, she is not allowed to go into the exam room if you do not want her to.  Call the doctor's office in advance to let them know if she is bringing you and then you don't want her in the room during the exam.  These laws don't seem to apply to just any medical condition, but apparently they apply to pregnancy.  Double check all of this with your doc.

I believe that even if your mother has given her consent for you to have the procedure, you probably have the right to ask the nurse or doctor to have her out of the room during the exam (and ultrasound) if you want privacy.  It might depend on *how* underage you are.  If you are 13, you might have less right to privacy in an exam than you would if you are 17, but I am not entirely sure about that, you might have an absolute right to privacy even as a minor.  Call and ask at the doctor's office where you will have the ultrasound.

You should call and ask whether parental consent is needed
