Work discrimination.. PLEASE READ VERY LONG SRRY!!

Im 37 weeks pregnant, and i was put on bed rest twice. My daughter wanted to come out into the world 2 different times. I had such a horrible pregnancy first trimester i was always náuseas, and would get sent home because i would be throwing up at work. Sometimes i felt sick before going and i would still show up if i couldn't take it anymore i would then tell them i was leaving. Atleast i showed up and tried to work. (i did take zofran, i would take it 2 every 6 hours or so i think my body got so immune to it that i would still get náuseas) Second trimester it went away completely i had all this energy. Third trimester it came back not as harsh it has been workable. I was at Work when i started getting sharp pain down in my vagina they were tolorable but but very uncomfortable. I stook through worked my whole shift. Sat down when ever i would get the pain. I went to the ER after my mid wife had suggested i do so. I go in im contacting already dialated 24 weeks pregnant So they stop it and put me on bed rest for about 2 weeks asked if i could go the whole pregnancy too do so which was no option i need to work to finish paying off school. I got a note to sit while working. At 34 weeks i go in to the ER again because of pain once again im dilating and contracting but they said it was okay to stay at home for 2 weeks on bed rest because after that im 37 weeks and if shes born anytime then she's not considered a preeme so i get excused i call my job let them know. Later on i look at my schedule and im scheduled 8hrs each week when i go back except the 3rd week im scheduled none i message the lady that does schedules and ask her whats going on she says i haven't been showing up and that the 3rd week is around the time i should pop so she didn't schedule me. I told her i haven't been going because i was told to stay on bed rest until the time date and was excused from my midwife. I also told her i have all the doctors notes from previous times. She messages me back and says "doctors notes dont excuse absences". I'm getting really tired of my job putting me down i didnt choose for my pregnancy to go this way.. What should i do.

Not sure of your location but in iowa theres a law where they pretty much have to legally excuse everything

You're covered under employment Equality Act 1998-2011. Under family status and gender. Your story def has grounds for legal case. Just had an exam about discrimination. Read plenty of similar cases. Highest compensation for being pregnant 345 000euro in Ireland for discrimination and victimisation. If they force you to work while youre on med cert that's wrong. If they punish you for not giving you any work that's wrong. Google few cases to find out more. But then you have to be prepared that probably you won't go back to this job and will have to find new. Remember about your maternity leave. If they will force you to work while youre on maternity- that's wrong.

Well first of all, doctors notes DO excuse absences! That stupid lady don't know what she's talking about. If u had a doctor's note for 2 weeks, but u showed up for work because they told u that u had to, and something happened to u at work, they would have a big huge fat lawsuit on there hands. They can't make u work if a doc is saying that u physically cant. They can't fire u because of that and if they do I would push for legal matters. I would fight for unemployment and report it to the better buisness beauro. Trust me if I was in that position I would fight every second of every day because they legally can't do that to u. I know what ur going through. All my pregnancies were horrible, I was nauseous the whole time. And it didn't help that I worked around food. I was always throwing up in the back and they told me to go home. Gross I know. But when I got a note excusing me, my boss knew that I couldn't work because if I got hurt when I wasn't supposed to be there, then they would most likely shut the buisness down. I would go back up there and make a big deal out of it. Don't act shy or worry about getting fired. Go in there with ur head up and demand for work if u feel like u can work, and demand that u speak with ur manager or there manager and tell them what's going on. If It was me I would go in there telling them that if they didn't let me work, or understand why I wasn't working then I would be taking the matter into corporate hands. Don't let them treat u like that girl. At all. U are a mom and u need to be able to focus on ur child and be able to have a steady income. Good luck

Check to see if your state has a Human Relations Commission or something similar.  They can help with work place discrimination cases.

Well same thing happened to me, but where i worked they had a union so i went in and told them everything that was happening and they spoked with my work manager and the store manager, or you can go to the unemployment office and tell them whats going on
