Not sure of your location but in iowa theres a law where they pretty much have to legally excuse everything
You're covered under employment Equality Act 1998-2011. Under family status and gender. Your story def has grounds for legal case. Just had an exam about discrimination. Read plenty of similar cases. Highest compensation for being pregnant 345 000euro in Ireland for discrimination and victimisation. If they force you to work while youre on med cert that's wrong. If they punish you for not giving you any work that's wrong. Google few cases to find out more. But then you have to be prepared that probably you won't go back to this job and will have to find new. Remember about your maternity leave. If they will force you to work while youre on maternity- that's wrong.
@super_mom92 thanks i really appreciate it, your experience helped me a lot. Im going to let my manager know whats going on!:)
Well first of all, doctors notes DO excuse absences! That stupid lady don't know what she's talking about. If u had a doctor's note for 2 weeks, but u showed up for work because they told u that u had to, and something happened to u at work, they would have a big huge fat lawsuit on there hands. They can't make u work if a doc is saying that u physically cant. They can't fire u because of that and if they do I would push for legal matters. I would fight for unemployment and report it to the better buisness beauro. Trust me if I was in that position I would fight every second of every day because they legally can't do that to u. I know what ur going through. All my pregnancies were horrible, I was nauseous the whole time. And it didn't help that I worked around food. I was always throwing up in the back and they told me to go home. Gross I know. But when I got a note excusing me, my boss knew that I couldn't work because if I got hurt when I wasn't supposed to be there, then they would most likely shut the buisness down. I would go back up there and make a big deal out of it. Don't act shy or worry about getting fired. Go in there with ur head up and demand for work if u feel like u can work, and demand that u speak with ur manager or there manager and tell them what's going on. If It was me I would go in there telling them that if they didn't let me work, or understand why I wasn't working then I would be taking the matter into corporate hands. Don't let them treat u like that girl. At all. U are a mom and u need to be able to focus on ur child and be able to have a steady income. Good luck
One more question sorry, am i exaggerating or making a big deal of it?
I am almost going to pop and i feel like when i go back to work i might not have my job..
Check to see if your state has a Human Relations Commission or something similar. They can help with work place discrimination cases.
Well same thing happened to me, but where i worked they had a union so i went in and told them everything that was happening and they spoked with my work manager and the store manager, or you can go to the unemployment office and tell them whats going on
