Zofran

How many of you ladies are still taking zofran? My morning sickness is terrible. I'm 15 weeks and I throw up at least 5 times a day unless I take zofran and I've tried everything else and nothing works. But I know my doctor like personally and she assured me that it was safe and if it were her she would take it. I've lost about 30 pounds and only gained back 7 so she's worried about my weight. And I've lost it because of nausea. So how many Andre still taking it?

Dmpnonna, I weighed 120 before pregnancy. Minus 40 pounds. I got down to 79 pounds. I went into preterm labor bc my body just simply could not support the weight of my baby. At 22 weeks my baby would not have survived. I was told by so many doctors "you have your baby now, he WILL die" zofran saved his life. If it wasn't for zofran I would weigh 107 now and I wouldn't still be carrying our sweet little boy at 30 weeks. Sometimes drugs are necessary. I am so thankful for zofran bc I get the chance to have my baby boy. In my case vomiting almost 20 times a day couldve killed my baby, or couldve killed me bc of dehydration and severe weight loss. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to vomit every day and still be considered healthy...

I agree with dmpnonna, I'm only 22 and my nausea is bad,and I'm badly in my second trimester But I won't risk side affects for me or my baby. I use remedies or simple tricks my mom and aunt tells me to do. But if lawyers are going around around saying you will be compensated it must be bad. My husband on the other hand keeps telling me to use it because his mom and sister did. And well my husband was supposed to be born with a birth defect but gratefully he wasn't and his sister has M.S. Idk to me it's too much of a risk. Just putting my opinion out there. If you use it it's your choice knowing the side affects. I just hope you talk to your partner about the risks. That's all that matters. You and your partner determine the risks together and make the choice together since it has side affects for both your child. Hope I helped a little (:

Please I wish everyone would stop posting about Zofran all it does is cause people to say rude things people have to do what they have to do to get through their pregnancies with a healthy baby someone else's choice to take meds or not take meds should not be judged and I doubt very seriously if any women is being selfish by taking any med that will help her get through her pregnancy without any unnecessary stress

I'm almost certain if you can't keep your body hydrated and you're losing a lot of weight because you can't keep anything down, your body can suffer from malnutrition. You can definitely get really sick and become hospitalized! Nobody chooses to suffer from Hyperemesis or regular morning sickness. How many medicines on the market are "risk-free"? There's either a side effect or risk with all prescribed medication. Any medicine prescribed to you is because your doctor sees the benefit of it outweighs the risk! You're NOT selfish for needing to take nausea medicine, so you can keep your body hydrated and nourished... which is a MUST to insure the health of your child!

I am the mother of four grown children, I had severe nausea, vomiting right up through my 7th month, I lost more than 20 lbs during my pregnancy and I had to work and function regardless of the nausea and vomiting.  We did not have the convenience of "a pill" to take nausea away. We had to tough it out, vomit our guts up, and did it without putting our babies at risk. If that drug were available back then, and had the risks that it has, I would not have taken it, I would never put my babies at risk for my sake of not dealing with nausea and vomiting. "Girls", you will not die from vomiting, you will not die from losing weight, you need to put the safety of your child or children first. The dangerous risks are not worth the damage to your child, the inconvenience of vomiting is not worth the inconvenience, pain and suffering you could cause your child for their lifetime. In my opinion anyone woman who takes this drug, knowing the risks cares more for herself than her unborn baby, that is so very selfish. To those who took the risk, and had a child born with heart problems or some of the other awful effects, was it worth it? I think NOT.

I still take it religiously. Every single day. I lost around 40 pounds in the first two trimesters even with taking it but it was the only possible way of getting food in front of my mouth let alone in my mouth. Now at 30 weeks I don't throw up a lot but my nausea is horrible so I need my zofran! I've taken well over 240 pills since day one of pregnancy and my baby boy is super healthy and strong!

Well this is my first baby but I also work a full time job and I have school. So I have no time for laying on the couch. And I work at a department store as a manager so therefore I'm around customers all day.

I'm almost 38 weeks and still taking it. I tried not to take it and would get sick. If this was my first baby I'd tough it out but I have a 4yo and a 2yo so laying on the couch all day isn't an option

I still have to take it occasionally at 22.5 weeks because of continuous nausea and some vomitting. I have been taking it since about 8 weeks when I was diagnosed with hyperemesis.

The risks of defects associated with Zofran occur before 12 weeks of pregnancy. I had to take it for a few weeks during that period before my morning sickness went away. They check for defects and everything at your 20 week scan. It seems like she prescribed it because the risk of you running into a health issue due to your weight loss is higher than a birth defect caused by Zofran.
