Most women who become pregnant become slightly anemic so it's not a big deal. Just be sure to eat plenty of iron rich foods and ask your doctor about prescribing you an iron supplement. I have to take two a day because mine got so low. You shouldn't have to go out and buy them though.

I am 8.5 months now and was diagnosed with anemia at 7 months.  I got iron from cvs. It's food to take with a glass of orange juice. I was feeling weak and lightheaded and faint before being diagnosed and now all of that is totally gone.  I'm not a big meat eater so just taking the iron pill each night helps completely.  You will be ok, just go to cvs ad lots soon as you can :)

I always get anemic during pregnancy I chew the Flintstone vitamins with iron. I won't take a pill though. It's only dangerous if it gets really low. I had a csection with my twins and my iron dropped to a 6 they wanted to do a transfusion. But didn't end up having to. So just get some thing asap. For yourself.

I've been anemic since I was about 4 years old. it doesn't affect the baby however make sure you don't let your iron levels get really low

And no it doesn't hurt the baby, what's happening is the baby is taking everything from you. So that's why prenatals and other vitamines such as iron is needed...it's needed for you. If you don't have iron or if you are anemic when you go into labor you might lose to much blood, the iron helps clot the blood. If you have no iron and are anemic you may end up needed a blood transfusion or worse... i had to go get iron as well. I was never anemic till now,  not even with my first pregnancy.  And the dr told me about anemic and labor and that's what she said. So I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just repeating what my dr told me.

Almost all stores should have iron tablets, but generally the bottle will not say that.  A brand name is Feosol. It also may say ferrous sulfate.
