opinions on a name

Hiya ladies, don't often post much usually read and learn from other people's posts. I'm from the UK and my partner is Finnish.  We will be living in Finland after our baby boy is born. He's very determined on having Pyry as the baby's name. I'm not sure if I like it or not, might be because it's a different culture and language it's a normal name for them. What are your opinions on it?

Hi I don't know if you still read you post but I was looking at names the other day. I love the name Phoenix and I saw that a nickname for this is Pyry!! I thought of this post straight away and have been trying to find it. Hope this helps

For some names yes but not for Pyry. I liked Lucas which would have been Luukas or Ethan which is pronounced Aithan in Finnish, but my partner is in love with Pyry

I was actually thinking more of those charts one sees that Pablo means Paul, and like that.  Is there any such thing for Finnish names?

It means snow in English would remind me so much of game of thrones John snow if my family called him that lol

You could do what my Italian cousin by marriage did, they named their son Luca and when they are in the United States everyone (including his parents) calls him Lucas.  In other words, the names are considered interchangeable by the family including the parents.  What does Pyry translate to in English?
