child support

I am from SC and me and my child's father are not together. I am planning to put him on child support as soon as the baby gets here but I do not have any funds saved up to maintain me an the baby until it kicks in. Is there any type of support out there to help with this and how long before child support kicks in?

If you're unemployed you can apply for Cash aid, get food stamps, etc. Google DCFS  (department of child and family services). Good luck

The child support, you have to apply for it, then the father and you have to go to court. It could take several months before it's approved. Because it also depends if the father wants a dna test first. He has to show what he does for a living, you also, and the judge decides how much he pays based on occupation and income.

You should be able to go for food stamps and stuff. Just go to the department of family and children and they will help you get everything you qualify for.
