Has anyone taken a class C medication during pregnancy and had a healthy baby? Im on cymbalta and my dr says its ok to take. I would love to get off them but the withdrawal is awful.

I take a class c, Lithium for bi-polar. Its one if those issues were you have to outweigh the good and the bad. Im 37 weeks.Every appointment and ultrasound shes developing on track, my daughter will have to be monitored after shes born for 2 days though to make sure shes ok because it will be in her system as well. If you want to get off talk to your dr. about weaning off of it and switch to something safer?

I took a class c medication throughout my pregnancy. I couldnt get off it bc of withdrawl and it couldve caused miscarriage. I was very nervous, and baby was also at risk for withdrawls. She was monitored (3 days at local hospistal and 4 days at childrens hospital nicu) for the mild symptoms she had, didnt require any treatment (some babies require being weaned off a different similar medication over a longer period of time) and went to a couple developmental clinics at 3 and 9 months old and she is actually developing above the curve. So, its not cymbalta I was on, so I cant say for sure, but in my experience my baby was fine after being exposed to class c medication. If i was you I would ask your doctor what the common side effects for baby are and how they are dealt with.
