im 32 weeks and do about an hour a day on the eliptical. Im fine i absolutely love it.
If you feel perfectly fine doing it or after, than i don't see why he would tell you to stop...
LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR! !!! He is the doctor for a reason do not go against any doctors orders do not go by anybody who is NOT your doctor you would feel horrible i anything happened to your baby just because YOU FEEL GREAT AFTER WORKOUT. ..
I agree if ur doctor is telling u not to dont
As a physical therapist, I wanted to offer my thoughts on this post. Not my advice but perhaps some things to think about to discuss further with your MD. I got an elliptical for the same reasons as you. First trimester kicked my butt, I am now out of shape, and only do 15-20 min before I feel like I need to get off. I think listening to your body is the most important thing you can be doing right now. Biomechanically, the up and down motion is more fluid than running - which is perfectly acceptable for experienced runners who are pregnant. In fact, the elliptical is much easier on our joints which are carrying more weight right now.
You might want to consider how well read your MD is, or if there is a reason why he/she is telling why you specifically should not use an elliptical. It is your MDs job to tell you no if they are unsure because he/she does not want to get sued. You may want to ask your MD why specifically the elliptical is bad or if he/she has experience using one.
When I was in school 11 years ago exercise recommendations were quite different for pregnant women than they are now - and now that I am pregnant and doing research, I can't believe how things have changed. This is why it is important to understand where your MD is getting his/her information from, and if there is anything specific to your pregnancy that concerns him or her.
Thank u. I will be asking him for more details nxt appt and his reasons for me to stop.. im 35 weeks and haven't been doing it my whole pregnancy so thats the only thing i can think of.
