employer issues

I'm 18 weeks and have been having a tough time with my employer. I'm privately employed for a disabled man, I'm his caretaker. I have special restrictions from my doctor (even took him the doctors note) that I am not supposed to be lifting due to a subchorionic hemorrhage and now in recent events the baby putting pressure on my sciatic nerve causing back pain. He has not followed any papers brought into him. He purposely makes me lift washbaskets that are 30+ pounds (I weighed them), and heavy grocery bags. I know he does this on purpose because I'm the only employee that he makes do laundry, and grocery shop. I called the company that pays me but they said that they can't do anything because all they do is write the checks. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Any of you other ladies have issues with your employers?

Find another client... He has certain needs that has to be done... That is your job... But if u can't find another job right now for whatever reason... Start separating loads of whatever u have to lift.. If the basket weighs thirty pounds take half of the clothes out do this also with groceries and stuff.... I am and stna and I can't lift over 20 lbs unless I am assisted by someone else..   So u have to do what's best for u... So if u can't do the job or make it work they can let u go for whatever reason they want...

Call a lawyer, most offer free advice and they can tell you what the pregnancy laws are for your state.

Yikes, this one is tough.... FMLA protects you if you need to take time off for medical purposes up to 12 weeks.   But I've heard of people losing their job because they can no longer fulfill the job requirements.... is lifting 30+ lbs listed in the job description? I think employers are required to make reasonable accomadations when an employee is going through medical issues..... but all of this is for employers who have more than 50 employees... if you don't want to or can't find a different job... I'd seek professional advice. But don't do the lifting! Baby comes first.... my thoughts go out to you
