well for me my first Dr apt turned out to be an ultrasound first and then a sit down with the doc after. For me i have a high risk pregnancy, so they were doing diagnostic tests to make sure the sac was in the right place, and the baby wasn't in my fallopian tube or somewhere it wasn't supposed to be. everything looked perfect so now i'm 26 weeks along on the 9th. As far as heartbeat you wont hear that until your 7th week at the very least.
