military wifes?

Are any of you military wife's? This is my first pregnancy and it's been hard for me to get on tricare prime and see a doctor. I finally have everything settled out now and I went to see how to get a referral to see an obgyn and they made an appt with a doc ( that's not even my doc) and it's on April 20th (that's far) and I asked them what would happen at the appt and they said it's a regular check up since I haven't been seen by this clinic on base before and it has nothing to do with the baby, just a check up to get a referral and I'm 20 weeks and I haven't been seen by a doc at all. It's overwhelming. So I'm asking have any of you had to have a check up to get a referral?

I have tricare prime and i just called the clinic and told them i was pregnant.  They had me come in the same day and give a urine sample. Then when the rests came back the same day they immediately referred me to ob. I never once had to see my dr. But all my drs are at a naval hospital so everything happens faster i guess. I would call the clinic and ask why you need a check up so late when you can confirm your pregnancy by pering in a cup. Good luck. Military drs are completely frustrating.

I'm in port hueneme California. I know I'm 2O weeks because of the trip to the emergency room I had about a month ago and because I know the day I got pregnant.but I ask a lot of the women on base and they told me they didn't have to get seen for the referall they just had to take a pee test and then the referall came around a couple days later. And I told them I was 20 weeks but they still made the appt a month later. Should I call to see if they'd make it sooner? And thank you for you're answers!!!

Im a military wife and prior mil as well.  Thats notmal to be seen first then referred.  How do you know your 20 weeks?  Were u being seen somewhere else? Have you been taking prenatals?  I would call and let them know youre that far along if you havent been seen before by an ob yet.

I'm a military wife. We just had our little one two days ago. I had to do that also. You need to be pushing and pushing everyone you can think of for that referral. I got one and then they denied me bc I was high risk so I had to go through the process again..
