middle names

We are 99% sure the baby won't have a middle name. The first name we chose is not common so we think it's unnecessary. Anyone else feel the same?? What purpose do they have besides identity??

But of course, middle name or not is entirely up to the parents.

My son has two middle names, both are members of the family who mean a lot and so it has great sentimental value more then anything. My middle name (and my sibligs) are all after a family member. I think it's a nice way to acknowledge someone , and a good way for kids to know they are in trouble ! Haha.

A middle name is totally just up to you. People like to have them to represent a family member or because a name has a special meaning. But they not really necessary if you don't want to give your child one. I have 5 siblings and 2 don't have them and the others do. Just up to the parents! :)

My father and uncle don't have middle names. I dont believe there is another reason other than identity, although im not 100% sure but curious to know also...
