I trick myself with the carbonated juices (like Cascade Ice). Most are free of basically everything, no sugar, no caffiene. The carbonation in them makes me feel like im drinking soda but I'm not! Good luck (:

You could try to limit yourself to about one a day. Don't let anyone tell you you can't have any (unless your doctor says otherwise). That's just ridiculous.

I used to drink 1 soda a day.   Now I have maybe 1 a week.  Water is what I mainly drink now, ice water preferably.  Don't buy sodas so they are not in the house.   Or you can get those mini cans when you have a soda craving. But no more than 1 a day.

If you're worried about your sugar intake I'd take a good look at fruit juices, especially those fruits which are naturally tart as manufacturers add loads of sugar to sweeten them. I go for diet pop/soda, as there's less sugar and less caffeine, less calories too! Choose fruit juice with no added sugar & lots of water, water is much more hydrating than other drinks, so you'll drink less of it than juice & soda/fizzy pop. I think the key is balance. Good luck xxx

I would alternate soda and water.  If it's caffeinated maybe start by alternating and then do 2 glasses of water to every soda, until your down to 1 or 2 glasses a day.  (If its not caffeinated then just stick to every other. Caffeine is what's not so good for the baby.) But as always chat with your doctor or call the nurse, they will know what's best for you!!  As far as gastro issues, again chat with the doc....

I asked this question awhile back because I love root beer and pepsi and was told root beer is a good choice because it doesn't have caffeine. .!!

Too many sweet things and you can get gestational diabetes.  I don't think diet soda is a better alternative because it contains aspartame.   That is no good.  Try drinking fresh fruit smoothies.  Mango banana is naturally sweet. Healthy pregnancy= healthy baby.  I know sugar addiction is hard to fight.  I weighed almost 300 pounds when I found out I was pregnant with my baby.  It didn't take much for me to decide to knock off the sugar.   I have lost almost 25 pounds just eating healthy foods and staying fat away from sugar.  I feel good and baby is growing just fine.  I'm 22 weeks.

It can be bad if u drink too much soda. Its fine in moderation though. No more than 200 mg a day for caffeinated sodas. If ur tummy is hurting, id lay off the sodas and speak with ur doctor if it continues.
